Forewing length and wing surface are the key morphological traits to explain the biomechanics of the flight performance in spruce budworm. Large budworm females benefit from more energy reserves that can be allocated daily to flight and a relative energy saving during flight due to their mass.

On the relationship between mean hillslope length and drainage density
How can we quantify the average hillslope length of a catchment? Here we present a new framework that links this key metric to the actual flowing length of the river network, offering a broader, flexible alternative to the Horton classical formulation to describe how hillslope structure adapts to network expansion/contraction.
