Tracking the Dynamic and Interactive Metal Oxidation Changes in CoFe, CoNi, and NiFe Bimetallic Hydroxides for Electrocatalytic Oxygen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Operando hard X‐ray absorption spectroscopy is applied to track the dynamic and interactive metal oxidation changes in iron group bimetallic hydroxides under different chemical and electrochemical conditions. It shows that Co and Fe oxidation are relatively equal and synchronized in CoFeOxHy.

Deciphering the Interplay Between Wetting and Chemo‐Mechanical Fracture in Lithium‐Ion Battery Cathode Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The fundamental intricate couplings between electrolyte wetting and fracture evolution are investigated in large single‐crystal V2O5 samples using both experimental techniques and simulations. Both approaches reveal consistent fracture patterns and lithium distribution concentration maps influenced by the wetting mechanism.

Ultra‐Sensitive Short‐Wave Infrared Organic Photodetectors Enabled by a π‐Conjugation Extended Proquinoid Electron Acceptor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel proquinoid‐type electron acceptor, TQC‐4Cl, with an ultra‐narrow bandgap of 1.01 eV and spectral response beyond 1200 nm enables organic SWIR photodetectors. The optimized devices show a high EQE of 13.66% and high specific detectivity over 1012 Jones at 1200 nm under −0.5 V reverse bias with outstanding thermal stability, highlighting their ...
