Deficits in general and smoking‐specific response inhibition in the Go/No‐Go task in individuals who smoke: A cross‐sectional analysis

open access: yesAddiction, Volume 120, Issue 7, Page 1402-1412, July 2025.
Abstract Background and aims Previous studies on response inhibition deficits in smoking have often been conducted in small, young, age‐homogeneous samples, without controlling for covariates or testing moderating effects. The primary research question compared response inhibition between a large, age‐diverse smoking sample and non‐smoking controls ...

Fetal growth restriction adversely impacts trajectory of hippocampal neurodevelopment and function

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 35, Issue 4, July 2025.
Hippocampal neuron dendritogenesis occurs rapidly in late fetal gestation and forms the foundation for connectivity and long term function. Fetal growth restriction caused by placental insufficiency is associated with reduced dendritogenesis in hippocampal neurons, resulting in a significant decrease in the trajectory of neuro‐development.

Re‐evaluation of neotame (E 961) as food additive

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract The present opinion deals with the re‐evaluation of neotame (E 961) as a food additive. Neotame is the chemically manufactured compound N‐[N‐(3,3‐dimethylbutyl)‐l‐α‐aspartyl]‐l‐phenylalanine 1‐methyl ester. The main impurity of neotame (E 961) is also a degradation product (de‐esterified form), N‐[N‐(3,3‐dimethylbutyl)‐l‐α‐aspartyl]‐L ...
