Light Intensity Modulation in a Thermal Medium
Applied Optics, 1973The intensity of a low power He-Ne laser beam was modulated in a thermal medium consisting of a slab of lead glass by temperature fluctuations caused by the absorption of light from a higher power argon laser. Close agreement between experiment and analytical calculations has been obtained.

Distortion spectrum of laser intensity modulation
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1995The simplest and most economical method for transforming many channels of high quality video and audio analog signals into an optical signal makes use of subcarrier multiplexing. In this multiplexing scheme, a broadband analog signal consisting of the sum of many modulated subcarriers (one for each channel), is applied to amplitude modulate the ...

Intensity modulation methods for proton radiotherapy
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1999The characteristic Bragg peak of protons or heavy ions provides a good localization of dose in three dimensions. Through their ability to deliver laterally and distally shaped homogenous fields, protons have been shown to be a precise and practical method for delivering highly conformal radiotherapy.
