Circadian Dynamics of Imaginal Characteristics of Mental Representations of Psychic States [PDF]

open access: yesУченые записки Казанского университета: Серия Гуманитарные науки, 2016
The aim of the study is to investigate the circadian dynamics of the characteristics and structures of mental representations of psychic states with different modality and levels of mental activity.

ESTIMATING THE INTENSITY OF GERM-GRAIN MODELS WITH OVERLAPPING GRAINS

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2011
Formulas are derived for the spherical contact distribution of a planar germ-grain model Z with circular grains where the germs formeither a 'segment cluster' process or a 'line-based' Poisson point process.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Musical Intensity Applied in the Sports and Exercise Domain: An Effective Strategy to Boost Performance?

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
In the sports and exercise domain, it has been suggested that musical intensity might boost performance. Previous research revealed that pumping up the volume of music might increase running speed, grip strength, and choice reaction time while ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Effect of Light Conditions on Growth and Antioxidant Parameters of Two Hydroponically Grown Lettuce Cultivars (Green and Purple) in a Vertical Farm System

open access: yesHorticulturae
The use of extended light spectra, including UV-A, green, and far-red, has been scarcely explored in vertical farming. This study evaluated the effects of full spectra under two intensities (90 and 180 µmol m−2 s−1) on the growth and antioxidant ...

Late growth stages and post-growth diffusion in organic epitaxy: PTCDA on Ag(111)

open access: yes, 2004
The late growth stages and the post-growth diffusion of crystalline organic thin films have been investigated for 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) on Ag(111), a model system in organic epitaxy.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
