Statistics for Information Intensive Agriculture. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper proposes that productivity growth in rain fed agriculture is possible with more intensive use of available information. This may be a way out of the productivity plateau experienced since the green revolution. Some illustrative examples are discussed to spell out the ideas.

Physical methods for soil disinfestation in intensive agriculture: Old methods and new approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Physical soil disinfestation is worldwide mainly applied in protected cropping systems or in small-scale intensive field crops. Continuous cropping of monocultures or different host plants for the same pest or pathogen often leads to heavily infested ...

Effect of agricultural fiscal expenditures on agricultural carbon intensity in China

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Pollution Research, 2023
Few studies provide direct evidences that agricultural fiscal affects agricultural carbon intensity. This study tries to fill this gap. Using panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2005 to 2019, we conclude that agricultural fiscal expenditures significantly reduce agricultural carbon intensity.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Metagenomic Analysis of Polypropylene and Low-Density Polyethylene Plastispheres from an Intensive Agriculture Waste Landfill

open access: yesMicroplastics
Synthetic plastics are polymers that are largely produced worldwide, impacting ecosystems and human health. Microplastics are produced from fragmentation and degradation of larger plastics, as a consequence of environmental factors.

Phosphorus losses via surface runoff in rice-wheat cropping systems as impacted by rainfall regimes and fertilizer applications

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2016
Phosphorus (P) losses from agricultural soils contribute to eutrophication of surface waters. This field plot study investigated effects of rainfall regimes and P applications on P loss by surface runoff from rice (Oryza sativa L.) and wheat (Triticum ...
