How Big is the Gig? The Extensive Margin, The Intensive Margin, and The Hidden Margin

Labour Economics, 2021

Adjusting Labor Along the Intensive Margins

SSRN Electronic Journal
We expand the analysis of cyclical changes in labor demand by decomposing changes along the intensive margin into those in days/week and in hours/day. Using large cross sections of U.S. data, 1985-2018, we observe around ¼ of the adjustment in weekly hours occurring through changing days/week. There is no adjustment of days/week in manufacturing; but 1/

Intensity modulation optimization, lateral transport of radiation, and margins

Medical Physics, 1996
Intensity modulation provides greatly increased control, leading to superior dose distributions with a potential for improved clinical outcome. It also allows us to compensate for deviations from the expected patterns in dose distributions caused by the lateral transport of radiation.

The extensive and intensive margins of Spanish trade

International Review of Applied Economics, 2011
Recent empirical research highlights that differences in trade flows across countries, products and years are governed by two margins: the intensive margin and the extensive margin. The analysis of the relative contribution of each margin is very important to determine which policies can be more efficient to foster trade at the aggregate, geographic ...
