Coupling of Er3+ ions and Plasmonic Modes in Vertical Nanocavities for Spectral Broadening in Telecom Bands

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Left: Illustration of the glass & nanostructures system and the NIR emission at 1.5 µm, where the colored spheres represent the Er3+ ions within the doped glass. Right: Representation of the Stark splitting of the 4I13/2 and 4I15/2 manifolds of the Er3+, illustrating how the plasmonic modes facilitate the emission from the broader Stark manifold ...

Multilevel Optical Programming of Intrinsic Vacancies in Solution‐Processed MoS2 Films for Retinomorphic Color Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed MoS2 films with intrinsic sulfur‐vacancy traps are used to integrate light sensing and memory in a simple two‐terminal pixel. Successive optical pulses program persistent, multilevel conductance states, while oxygen exposure enables rapid erasure.

Flexible and High‐Performance Perovskite‐Polymer Composites for Dual X‐Ray and Proton Direct Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A polymer–perovskite composite obtained by mechanochemical synthesis enables thick, tunable active layers for efficient absorption of highly penetrating ionizing radiation. Vertical‐electrode detectors achieve low X‐ray detection limits and high sensitivity direct 5 MeV proton sensing.

Location independent inter-process communication as software buses

open access: yes, 2016
Telecommunication networks will transform and gradually migrate into virtualized cloud environments as a result of the potential for higher profitability through reduced costs and increased revenues. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate architectural mechanisms for location-independent communication between software components in a virtualized ...

Multi‐Mode Deep Strong Coupling in a Multi Quantum Well Fabry–Perot Cavity

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Multi‐mode deep‐strong coupling is demonstrated in a 166‐well heterostructure that acts as a Fabry–Perot cavity. Even cavity modes couple strongly to the cyclotron resonance, producing large vacuum Rabi splittings and a rich polaritonic spectrum captured by a full Hopfield model.
