Acquisition, Scanning and Control Technology for Inter-satellite Laser Communication

2021 IEEE 16th Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2021
Due to the complex space environment, it is very difficult to establish communication links between satellites efficiently and quickly. Considering laser power limitation and environmental conditions, the gazing/scanning method is selected to achieve inter-satellite laser communication. Firstly, this paper establishes the theoretical model of the field

Space-based laser systems for inter-satellite communications

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
Space-based optical communications using satellites in low earth orbit (LEO) and Geo synchronous orbits (GEO) hold great promise for the proposed Internet in the Sky network of the future. Building high speed communications network using optical links in space has proven to be an extremely complicated task and many such schemes were tried without ...

Research on telescope array for inter-satellites laser communication

Proceedings of SPIE, 2006
Recent years have seen an explosive increase in the application of inter-satellites laser communication system. Considerations make phased arrays an attractive target for optical communication applications. This paper proposes a novel telescope array for inter-satellites laser communication and investigates phased telescope arrays to be employed in

Demonstrations of ARTEMIS-OICETS Inter-Satellite Laser Communications

24th AIAA International Communications Satellite Systems Conference, 2006
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) developed the Optical Inter-orbit Communication Engineering Test Satellite (OICETS) for the purpose of establishment of the base technology of a next-generation space communication network. On 23rd August 2005, OICETS was successfully launched and thrown into a polar sun synchronous orbit at the altitude of 610

Quick topological method for acquiring the beacon in inter-satellite laser communications

Applied Optics, 2014
Background starlight can lead to some spot noise in the image collected by a CCD, disturbing the beacon acquisition in inter-satellite laser communications. Removing the spot noise takes much time by using the existing method that is based on the reference star calendar table. We present a novel method to reduce the processing time in this paper.

Inter-satellite communications using laser based optical links

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Laser Communications offer a viable alternative to established RF communications for inter-satellite links and other applications where high performance links are a necessity. High data rate, small antenna size, narrow beam divergence, and a narrow field of view are characteristics of laser communications that offer a number of potential advantages ...

Optical System in Laser Inter-Satellites Communication

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
We know that Inter-satellites communica-tion is a very important to us.However, real global coverage can only be achieved by satellite systems. Satellites communication is the most important mean of the communication network. The traditional satellites communication and inter-satellites links are built by microwave.

Research on performance evaluation of Inter-Satellites laser communication system

2011 Second International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2011
Considering that noises with different kinds of distribution, the Gaussian Approximation method is firstly used to evaluate the Inter-Satellites Laser Communications performance precisely. The Moment Generating Function expression of considering shot noise, background optical noise and hot noise is firstly derived.

Research on denoising in WDM laser inter-satellites communication system

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
This paper proposes a method of wavelet analysis for de-noising at receiver system in WDM laser inter-satellites communication. Background noises such as galactic noise, sunlight and etc make the received power reduce. The noisy signal is decomposed using wavelets and wavelet packets; then is transformed into wavelet coefficients and the lower order ...

Coherent detection of position errors in inter-satellite laser communications

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Due to the improved receiver sensitivity and wavelength selectivity, coherent detection became an attractive alternative to direct detection in inter-satellite laser communications. A novel method to coherent detection of position errors information is proposed.
