Satellite Navigation Inter-satellite Link Technology
2020Inter-satellite link (or Crosslink) refers to the link between satellites, or the link between spacecraft in a more generalized sense. Its main functions include inter-satellite communication, data transmission, inter-satellite ranging, and inter-satellite TT&C.

The ability of autonomous navigation is one of the key features supporting autonomous operation of the satellite constellation. Based on inter-satellite link ranging, the increase of direction observation can obtain the indirect measurements of orbital plane orientation parameters, which determine the absolute direction of the constellation in inertial

"Internet from Space" without Inter-satellite Links
Proceedings of the 19th ACM Workshop on Hot Topics in Networks, 2020Buoyed by advances in space technology, several firms are planning satellite constellations to offer broadband Internet service. While these developments are happening quickly, there are also many uncertainties about the design of these networks. A key open question is whether or not they will incorporate direct connectivity between satellites, instead

The Study on RF Inter-Satellite Links
2011 7th International Conference on Wireless Communications, Networking and Mobile Computing, 2011This paper emphasizes on the transmission scheme to RF inter-satellite links(ISLs) between Geostationary Earth Orbit(GEO) satellites in term of practical application .Some important problems, such as frequency band selection, modulation type, multiple access , and links equation calculation are discussed in details .In this paper some suggestions and ...

Phased-array antennas for inter-satellite links
2010 Australian Communications Theory Workshop (AusCTW), 2010Antennas are key components of inter-satellite links (ISLs). To achieve the necessary antenna gains with modest physical size, directional Ka or V Band antennas are required that may be steered throughout the duration of the ISL. This paper considers options for ISL antennas on low-earth orbit satellites that avoid any mechanical steering.

Inter-satellite communications using laser based optical links
SPIE Proceedings, 2007Laser Communications offer a viable alternative to established RF communications for inter-satellite links and other applications where high performance links are a necessity. High data rate, small antenna size, narrow beam divergence, and a narrow field of view are characteristics of laser communications that offer a number of potential advantages ...

Evaluation of synchronization techniques for inter-satellite links
2016 International Conference on Communications (COMM), 2016Several space missions launched in recent years used satellite formations for which inter-satellite links (ISL) have to be developed. One of the important challenges to be solved in an ISL is time and frequency synchronization between the two satellites.

The optics mechanical module for inter-satellite link
SPIE Proceedings, 2016Inter-satellite link (ISL) is a system of several satellites, which encircle the earth and spaced at a fixed distance from each other - of about 3000 kilometers. The optical-mechanical module (MOM) for the ISL is designed to transmit data over long distances in a small range of angles.
