Inter-Symbol Interference Mitigation in High-Data-Rate UWB Systems

open access: yes2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007
The design of ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radio receivers has to cope with complex signal propagation environments with dense multipath fading, which complicate channel estimation and multipath energy capture. As the date transmission rate increases, additional interference between adjacent symbols arises which may further degrade the detector ...

Statistical distribution of UWB signals in the presence of inter-symbol interference

open access: yes2013 IEEE Conference on Sustainable Utilization and Development in Engineering and Technology (CSUDET), 2013
In narrowband communication system, the presence of interference and noise are normally modeled by Gaussian distribution. However, it is not always the case for broadband signals. In this paper, we study the statistical distribution of a single-user Ultra Wideband system in the presence of inter-symbol interference and the additive white Gaussian noise.

On the Modeling of Inter-Sub-Symbol Interference in GFDM Transmission [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Communications Letters, 2019
Inter-sub-symbol interference (ISSI) refers to the interference that independently affects each group of sub-symbols transmitted on the same sub-carrier in generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM).

Physical layer authentication using controlled inter symbol interference

2012 IEEE International Symposium on Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks, 2012
Spectrum security and enforcement is one of the major challenges that need to be addressed before cognitive radios (CR) can be widely deployed for opportunistic spectrum sharing. One of the mechanisms needed to carry out spectrum enforcement is the authentication or identification of transmitters.

Extrinsic Neural Network Equalizer for Channels with High Inter-Symbol-Interference

ICC 2021 - IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2021
In this paper, we propose a novel extrinsic neural network equalizer (ExNE) for joint iterative equalization and decoding. The proposed ExNE takes the received signal sequence and a priori probabilities from the channel decoder as inputs to directly generate output extrinsic probabilities.

Inter-symbol interference analysis of synaptic channel in molecular communications

2014 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2014
Neuro-spike communication is an important branch of molecular communications and has attracted much attention recently. Seminal works on the analyses of signal processing and channel models for the synaptic communication have recently been carried out. However, these works do not consider interference.

PHY-layer authentication by introducing controlled inter symbol interference

2013 IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS), 2013
Spectrum security and enforcement is one of the major challenges that need to be addressed before spectrum-agile and opportunistic spectrum access technologies can be deployed. Rogue transmitters are a major threat to opportunistic spectrum access.

Inter-symbol interference (ISI) in on-die transmission lines

2009 IEEE International Conference on Microwaves, Communications, Antennas and Electronics Systems, 2009
The waveforms of a signal transmitted through single-ended on-die transmission lines, implemented by standard metal layers of a CMOS 45 nm technology node, have been experimentally studied. The influence of the active loss level of the lines, as well as of the impedance mismatch between the transmission line and its driver upon the signal distortion ...
