Interactions in Massive Binary Stars as Seen by Interferometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
With the advent of large-collecting-area instruments, the number of objects that can be reached by optical long-baseline interferometry is steadily increasing. We present here a few results on massive binary stars, showing the interest of using this technique for studying the insight of interactions in these systems.

Emission-line diagnostics of nearby H ii regions including interacting binary populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We present numerical models of the nebular emission from H II regions around young stellar populations over a range of compositions and ages. The synthetic stellar pop- ulations include both single stars and interacting binary stars.

Hyperons in Neutron Stars

open access: yesUniverse, 2021
I review the issues related to the appearance of hyperons in neutron star matter, focusing in particular on the problem of the maximum mass supported by hyperonic equations of state. I discuss the general mechanism that leads to the formation of hyperons

The Pseudosynchronization of Binary Stars Undergoing Strong Tidal Interactions [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2017
Abstract Eccentric binaries known as heartbeat stars experience strong dynamical tides as the stars pass through periastron, providing a laboratory to study tidal interactions. We measure the rotation periods of 24 heartbeat systems, using the Kepler light curves to identify rotation peaks in the Fourier transform.

Dynamics and Interactions of Binaries and Neutron Stars in Globular Clusters [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 1995
We model the dynamics of test binaries in isotropic, multi-mass models of galactic globular clusters. The evolution of binary orbits through the cluster potentials is modeled, including second order diffusion terms, and probabilities for close encounters with field stars are calculated. We carry out Monte Carlo simulations of the effects of the binary--

On the Anticorrelation between Duration and Redshift in Gamma-Ray Bursts

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
For gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) with durations greater than two seconds (so-called long GRBs), the intrinsic prompt gamma-ray emission appears, on average, to last longer for bursts at lower redshifts.

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...
