Pair-Matching of Radio-Loud and Radio-Quiet AGNs

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2017
Active galactic nuclei (AGNs) are known to cover an extremely broad range of radio luminosities and the spread of their radio-loudness is very large at any value of the Eddington ratio.

Galactic Center Excess in Gamma Rays from Annihilation of Self-Interacting Dark Matter

open access: yes, 2015
Observations by the Fermi-LAT telescope have uncovered a significant $\gamma$-ray excess toward the Milky Way Galactic Center. There has been no detection of a similar signal in the direction of the Milky Way dwarf spheroidal galaxies.

Exploring the Effects of Reduced Gravitational Field Impacts on Convective Heat Transfer: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesHeat Transfer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review explores the impact of gravitational instability on convective heat transfer, integrating existing research results and theoretical models. Gravitational instability is vital in promoting or hindering convective actions in different systems, such as atmospheric events, ocean currents, and industrial processes.

Luminous Infrared Galaxies in the Local Universe

open access: yes, 2006
We study the morphology and star formation properties of 159 local luminous infrared galaxy (LIRG) using multi-color images from Data Release 2 (DR2) of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). The LIRGs are selected from a cross-correlation analysis between

Somato‐Cognitive Action Network in Focal Dystonia

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The central pathology causing idiopathic focal dystonia remains unclear. The recently identified somato‐cognitive action network (SCAN) has been implicated. Objective We tested whether the effector‐agnostic SCAN may constitute a central pathology shared across dystonia subtypes, whereas the effector‐specific regions in the primary ...

AMPK‐Dependent Epigenetic Regulation of Metabolism Mediates the Anti‐Cancer Action of Pterostilbene in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
This study investigates the anti‐cancer effects of pterostilbene (PTS), a naturally occurring dietary phytoestrogen, in a rat model of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) induced by a choline‐deficient L‐amino acid‐defined (CDAA) diet. Supplementation with PTS significantly reduces liver steatosis and tumor formation.

Interacting Galaxies with MOND

open access: yes, 2007
We compare N-body simulations performed in MOND with analogs in Newtonian gravity with dark matter (DM). We have developed a code which solves the Poisson equation in both gravity models. It is a grid solver using adaptive mesh refinement techniques, allowing us to study isolated galaxies as well as interacting galaxies.

Sex‐Specific Lasting Metabolome Effects of Adverse Gestational Conditions and Prevention by Myo‐Inositol Supplementation During Suckling

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates the effects of myo‐inositol supplementation during suckling in reducing long‐term metabolic impacts from mild gestational calorie restriction (GCR). Using a metabolomics approach, 164 metabolites were identified, with greater metabolic alterations in males.
