Evolution of Galaxies Through Their Interactions [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1996
We investigated how the encounters between galaxies change their mass M and velocity dispersion σ. We carried out a series of direct N-body simulation of encounters of two spherical galaxies. In Figure 1, the relative change of energy ΔE/E are plotted against that of mass ΔM/M for various initial conditions.

Logarithmic and Strong Coupling Models in Weyl‐Type f(Q,T)$f(Q,T)$ Gravity

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, EarlyView.
This work explores Weyl‐type f(Q,T) gravity using recent observational datasets — CC, Pantheon+, Union 3.0, and DESI DR2. Through MCMC analysis of logarithmic and strong coupling models, the study reveals a transition from deceleration to acceleration, quintessence‐to‐phantom dynamics, and late‐time consistency with LCDM, offering a geometry‐driven ...

Usage of the term provenance in LIS literature: An Annual Review of Information Science and Technology (ARIST) paper

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Provenance is the story of how something has come to be. In this paper, we provide a systematic literature review to categorize the various notions of provenance in Information Sciences. The goal of this review is to paint a broader picture of the multiple uses of provenance at play and to enhance our understanding of the importance of ...

Panchromatic Photometry of Low-redshift, Massive Galaxies Selected from SDSS Stripe 82

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
The broadband spectral energy distribution of a galaxy encodes valuable information on its stellar mass, star formation rate (SFR), dust content, and possible fractional energy contribution from nonstellar sources.

A study of galaxy interactions

open access: yes, 2014
This work describes the in-depth study of two systems of interacting galaxies, namely Arp 10 and VII Zw466. Both systems belong to a special group of interacting galaxies known as collisional ring and ring-like galaxies. A typical ring galaxy emerges when a companion galaxy passes through or near the center of a larger rotating disk galaxy driving ring-

Leading Regenerative Transformation: Cognitive Frame Characteristics Shaping Leaders' Approaches to Organizational Development

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As the urgency to address global crises such as climate change and inequality intensifies, the concept of regenerative development has emerged as a transformative approach going beyond sustainability to actively restore and enhance both ecological and social systems.

Galaxy Harassment—Interactions for the 90s [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1999
The origin of the Hubble sequence remains a long-standing puzzle in astronomy. Giant galaxies range from slowly-rotating dense ellipticals to thin late-type spiral disks. At the faint end, there are two distinct classes of “ellipticals/spheroids” that are easily separated in plots of nearly any two of their properties, such as central surface ...

Enhancing Wholemeal Bread Shelf Life Using Optimized Mixtures of Cinnamon, Clove, and Bay Leaf Essential Oils

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the preservative potential of essential oils (EOs) in bakery products by identifying fungal contaminants in bread, testing the in vitro antifungal activity of a mixture of cinnamon, clove, and bay leaf EOs, and assessing their effectiveness in extending shelf life. Fungal identification revealed the presence of Penicillium,

Hints against the cold and collisionless nature of dark matter from the galaxy velocity function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The observed number of dwarf galaxies as a function of rotation velocity is significantly smaller than predicted by the standard model of cosmology. This discrepancy cannot be simply solved by assuming strong baryonic feedback processes, since they would
