GOODS-Herschel: the impact of galaxy-galaxy interactions on the far-infrared properties of galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study the impact of galaxy-galaxy interactions on the FIR properties of galaxies and its evolution at 0

Formation of a massive lenticular galaxy under the tidal interaction with a group of dwarf galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Based on the atomic-hydrogen (HI) observations using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), we present a detailed study of the gas-rich massive S0 galaxy NGC 1023 in a nearby galaxy group. The presence of an HI extended warped disk in NGC 1023 indicates that this S0 galaxy originated from a spiral galaxy.

Optical imaging of IRAS galaxies : the evolution of infrared- bright galaxies. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Gravitational interactions play an important role in galaxy evolution, both in causing rapid structural changes in individual galaxies, and in changing the overall properties of galaxies over the age of the Universe.

SDSS-IV MaNGA: Spatial Evolution of Gas-phase Metallicity Changes Induced by Galaxy Interactions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Gas-phase metallicity in interacting and merging galaxies offers key insights into their star formation processes and evolutionary histories. This study investigates the spatial evolution of gas-phase metallicity (i.e., oxygen abundance, 12 + log(O/H ...

Panchromatic Photometry of Low-redshift, Massive Galaxies Selected from SDSS Stripe 82

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
The broadband spectral energy distribution of a galaxy encodes valuable information on its stellar mass, star formation rate (SFR), dust content, and possible fractional energy contribution from nonstellar sources.

266 E+A Galaxies Selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 2: The Origin of E+A Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesMon.Not.Roy.Astron.Soc. 357 (2005) 937, 2005
E+A galaxies are characterized as a galaxy with strong Balmer absorption lines but without any [OII] nor H$\alpha$ emission lines. The existence of strong Balmer absorption lines indicates that E+A galaxies have experienced starburst within recent one Gyr.

Formation of the Dark Matter–Deficient S0 Galaxy NGC 4111 under the Tidal Interactions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We present high-sensitivity and large-scale atomic hydrogen (H i ) observations toward lenticular (S0) galaxy NGC 4111 using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope.

Modified theory of gravity and clustering of multi-component system of galaxies

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2019
In this paper, we analyze the clustering of galaxies using a modified theory of gravity, in which the field content of general relativity has been be increased.

A study of interacting galaxies from the Arp-Madore Catalogue: Triggering of star formation and nuclear activity [PDF]

open access: yesA&A 689, A312 (2024)
We present Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph (GMOS) spectroscopic observations of 95 galaxies from the Arp & Madore (1987) catalogue of peculiar galaxies. These galaxies have been selected because they appear to be in pairs and small groups. These observations have allowed us to confirm that 60 galaxies are indeed interacting systems.

Super-star clusters versus OB associations

open access: yes, 2010
Super Star Clusters (Mecl > 10^5 Msol) are the largest stellar nurseries in our local Universe, containing hundreds of thousands to millions of young stars within a few light years.
