Dark matter mass loss in galaxy flybys: dependence on impact parameter [PDF]
Galaxy flybys, interactions where two independent halos inter-penetrate but detach at a later time and do not merge, occur frequently at lower redshifts.

INTERACTIONS OF GALAXIES IN THE GALAXY CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT [PDF]
We study the dependence of galaxy properties on the clustercentric radius and the environment attributed to the nearest neighbor galaxy using the SDSS galaxies associated with the Abell galaxy clusters. We find that there exists a characteristic scale where the properties of galaxies suddenly start to depend on the clustercentric radius at fixed ...

Interacting galaxies and cosmological parameters [PDF]
We propose a (physical)-geometrical method to measure the present rates of the density cosmological parameters for a Friedmann-Lemaitre universe. The distribution of linear separations between two interacting galaxies, when both of them undergo a first massive starburst, is used as a standard of length.

Effect of low-mass galaxy interactions on their star formation [PDF]
According to the $\Lambda$ cold dark matter model of galaxy formation, the hierarchical assembly process is scale-free and interactions between galaxies in all mass ranges are expected. The effects of interactions between dwarf galaxies on their evolution are not well understood.

Active galactic nuclei and galaxy interactions [PDF]
We perform a statistical analysis of AGN host characteristics and nuclear activity for AGNs in pairs and without companions. Our study concerns a sample of AGNs derived from the SDSS-DR4 data by Kauffmann et al (2003) and pair galaxies obtained from the same data set by Alonso et al. (2006).

Self-interacting dark matter on small and large scales
In the self-interacting dark matter paradigm (hereafter SIDM), dark matter (DM) is assumed to have non-gravitational interactions with itself. SIDM has been constrained by observations of galaxy clusters. More recently, measurements of large DM densities

Triggering Star Formation by Galaxy-Galaxy Interactions [PDF]
We analyzed the effects of having a close companion on the star formation activity of galaxies in the 8K galaxy pair catalog selected from the 2dFGRS. We found that, statistically, galaxies with rp < 25h−1 kpc and ΔV < 100km s−1 have enhanced star formation with respect to isolated galaxies with the same luminosity and redshift distribution.

THE METALLICITY EVOLUTION OF INTERACTING GALAXIES [PDF]
Nuclear inflows of metal-poor interstellar gas triggered by galaxy interactions can account for the systematically lower central oxygen abundances observed in local interacting galaxies. Here, we investigate the metallicity evolution of a large set of simulations of colliding galaxies.

Janus kinase 2 inhibition by pacritinib as potential therapeutic target for liver fibrosis
Diagram of the activation of the profibrotic and procontractile Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/Ras homolog family member A/Rho‐kinase pathway and the inhibition of phosphorylated JAK2 by pacritinib to inhibit hepatic stellate cell activity. Abstract Background and Aims Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) signaling is increased in human and experimental liver fibrosis with ...

Dark matter phenomenology of high-speed galaxy cluster collisions
We perform a general computational analysis of possible post-collision mass distributions in high-speed galaxy cluster collisions in the presence of self-interacting dark matter.
