Towards a socially adaptive digital playground [PDF]
We are working towards a socially adaptive digital playground for children. To this end, we are looking into nonverbal synchrony and other social signals as a measure of social behaviour and into ways to alter game dynamics to trigger and inhibit certain

Large-scale synchrony in weakly interacting automata
We study the behavior of two spatially distributed (sandpile) models which are weakly linked with one another. Using a Monte-Carlo implementation of the renormalization group and algebraic methods, we describe how large-scale correlations emerge between the two systems, leading to synchronized behavior.

The current study examines the role of action-depicting gestures in conversational turns by focusing on their semantic characteristics and temporal position in relation to their verbal affiliates (action verbs or more complex verb phrases).

Predicting video-conferencing conversation outcomes based on modeling facial expression synchronization [PDF]
Effective video-conferencing conversations are heavily influenced by each speaker's facial expression. In this study, we propose a novel probabilistic model to represent interactional synchrony of conversation partners' facial expressions in video ...

How environmental drivers of spatial synchrony interact
AbstractSpatial synchrony, the tendency for populations across space to show correlated fluctuations, is a fundamental feature of population dynamics, linked to central topics of ecology such as population cycling, extinction risk, and ecosystem stability.

Impairments of Social Motor Synchrony Evident in Autism Spectrum Disorder
Social interactions typically involve movements of the body that become synchronized over time and both intentional and spontaneous interactional synchrony have been found to be an essential part of successful human interaction.

The early development of infant siblings of children with autism spectrum disorder : characteristics of sibling interactions [PDF]
Although sibling interactions play an important role in children's early development, they are rarely studied in very young children with an older brother or sister with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study used a naturalistic, observational method

Routes to synchrony between asymmetrically interacting oscillator ensembles [PDF]
We report that asymmetrically interacting ensembles of oscillators (AIEOs) follow novel routes to synchrony. These routes seem to be a characteristic feature of coupling asymmetry. We show that they are unaffected by white noise except that the entrainment frequencies are shifted.
