Neural inpainting of folded fabrics with interactive editing

open access: yesComputers & Graphics
We propose a deep learning approach for inpainting holes in digital models of fabric surfaces. Leveraging the developable nature of fabric surfaces, we flatten the area surrounding the holes with minor distortion and regularly sample it to obtain a discrete 2D map of the 3D embedding, with an indicator mask outlining holes locations.

Blood Biomarkers of Alzheimer's Disease and Patterns of Structural Brain Changes in the Community

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to investigate the associations between Alzheimer's disease (AD)‐related blood biomarkers and changes in brain volumes and cerebrovascular burden in community‐dwelling older adults. Methods We included 361 dementia‐free participants with a Mini‐Mental State Examination (MMSE) score ≥ 27 and without prior cerebrovascular events from a

Hippocampal Seizure‐Related Burden is Associated with Accelerated Long‐Term Forgetting in Focal Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Memory impairment is a frequent comorbidity of focal epilepsy, incompletely explained by seizure frequency or structural pathology. Ictal and postictal hippocampal dysfunction disrupt memory processes, but their cumulative impact remains poorly quantified.

Piezoelectric Nanocomposite Hydrogel for Wireless Neural Stimulation and Tissue Augmentation

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
A cell/tissue supporting piezoelectric hydrogel system (PZ‐gel) that incorporates ferroelectric, pyroelectric, and piezoelectric ceramic material barium titanate into an alginate/carboxymethyl chitosan hydrogel. The PZ‐gel can be sonoactivated for wireless neural cell and tissue stimulation, with the potential to be used as a stimulatory cell substrate

CNN Interactive just got more interactive

open access: yes, 2001
Interactive gallery installation which playfully re-contextualised online news feeds from CNN’s website with a soundtrack of found music in order to comment on an online environment where 'serious' news and trivial 'infotainment' often occupy the same ...

Role of soft tissue and bone interactions in the developmental integration and modularity of the skull in neural crest‐specific gap junction alpha‐1 knockout mice

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The vertebrate skull is composed of bones derived from neural crest cells and mesoderm. The evolutionary capacity of the skull has been linked, in part, to the emergence of neural crest cells; however, this increased capacity for evolutionary change requires that variation within neural crest‐ and mesoderm‐derived bones remains partly ...

DragVideo: Interactive Drag-Style Video Editing

open access: yes
Video generation models have shown their superior ability to generate photo-realistic video. However, how to accurately control (or edit) the video remains a formidable challenge. The main issues are: 1) how to perform direct and accurate user control in editing; 2) how to execute editings like changing shape, expression, and layout without unsightly ...
