Hematoma of the interatrial septum

American Heart Journal, 1956
Abstract A case of hematoma of the interatrial septum is presented, in which rupture of the endocardium near the stenotic aortic valve allowed dissection of blood into the interatrial septum. A second endocardial defect communicated between the hematoma cavity and the sinus of the left aortic cusp.

Lipomatous Hypertrophy of the Interatrial Septum

Cardiovascular Surgery, 1994

Cardiac phaeochromocytoma of the interatrial septum

European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 1989
A patient with a phaeochromocytoma arising from the interatrial septum is reported. A 131I-metaiodobenzylguanidine scan and magnetic resonance imaging were useful for tumour localization. Complete removal of the tumour in the right atrium was performed on cardiopulmonary bypass.

Bronchogenic cyst of interatrial septum

Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine, 2011
Bronchogenic cyst, also known as inclusion cyst, is a type of congenital endodermal heterotropia derived from an abnormal development of the ventral diverticulum of the foregut or the tracheobronchial tree during embryogenesis. Its interatrial localization is extremely rare and making a final diagnosis without surgery challenges the clinician.

The Embryology of the Interatrial Septum

2016
Knowledge of the embryological development of the interatrial septum can provide the basis for understanding the morphogenesis of some congenital cardiac malformations. The interatrial septum consists of several embryological components including the septum primum, the anterosuperior and the posteroinferior cushions of the atrioventricular canal, the ...

[Aneurysms of the interatrial septum].

Acta medica portuguesa, 1998
Atrial septum aneurysms are an uncommon condition, underestimated before the routine use of echocardiography. Their clinical importance has increased after being associated with thromboembolic events. The authors made a review of clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic features of this entity after reporting six clinical cases.

Catecholamine-secreting paraganglioma of the interatrial septum

The American Journal of Medicine, 1984
A 29-year-old woman was found to have clinical and biochemical evidence of a functioning paraganglioma (pheochromocytoma) five years after the onset of symptoms. Despite extensive investigation of known potential sites of paragangliomas (including laparatomy), the suspected tumor eluded localization.

Lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum

European Journal of Radiology Extra, 2007
Abstract Lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum (LHIS) is a benign disorder characterized by a fatty accumulation in the interatrial septum. It typically occurs in obese, elderly patients and may cause arrhythmias. In this report we present the case of an oncology patient with metastasis of unknown origin and a fatty mass of the interatrial

Lipomatous Hypertrophy of the Cardiac Interatrial Septum

The American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology, 1997
A case of lipomatous hypertrophy of the cardiac interatrial septum is reported in a 91-year-old man who attempted to commit suicide. The lesion was found incidentally at autopsy. Gross examination showed a 3.5-cm mass, yellow and firm. Histologic study showed a proliferation of mature fat cells and slightly hypertrophic cardiac muscle cells.
