Validation of CrIS Radiometric Performance through Its Comparison to ABI

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Radiometric intercomparison between satellite remote sensing instruments has become an increasingly common practice to monitor the stability and even the accuracy of their radiance products.

Intercomparison of Retrospective Radon Detectors [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Perspectives, 1999
We performed both a laboratory and a field intercomparison of two novel glass-based retrospective radon detectors previously used in major radon case-control studies performed in Missouri and Iowa. The new detectors estimate retrospective residential radon exposure from the accumulation of a long-lived radon decay product, (210)Pb, in glass.

Assessment of Radiometric Calibration Consistency of Thermal Emissive Bands Between Terra and Aqua Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometers

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensors onboard the Terra and Aqua spacecraft have been in orbit for over 24 and 22 years, respectively, providing continuous observations of the Earth’s surface.

Integrating Global Satellite-Derived Data Products as a Pre-Analysis for Hydrological Modelling Studies: A Case Study for the Red River Basin

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2016
With changes in weather patterns and intensifying anthropogenic water use, there is an increasing need for spatio-temporal information on water fluxes and stocks in river basins.

Refinement of SMOS Multiangular Brightness Temperature Toward Soil Moisture Retrieval and Its Analysis Over Reference Targets

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2015
Soil moisture ocean salinity (SMOS) mission has been providing L-band multiangular brightness temperature observations at a global scale since its launch in November 2009 and has performed well in the retrieval of soil moisture.

Markets Mitigate Land‐Use Competition From Energy Crops and Increase Farm Revenues

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Meeting the US Sustainable Aviation Fuel Grand Challenge target of 35 billion gal annually by 2050 will require an estimated 380 million–700 million dry tons of agricultural biomass feedstock. This study evaluates the implications of large‐scale biomass production for land use, crop production, and market outcomes under mature market ...

Inter‐microscope comparability of dental microwear texture data obtained from different optical profilometers: Part II Deriving instrument‐specific correction equations for meta‐analyses using published data

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA) has emerged as a valuable method for investigating the feeding ecology of vertebrates. Over the past decade, three‐dimensional topographic data from microscopic regions of tooth surfaces have been collected, and surface texture parameters have been published for both extant and fossil species.

Comprehensive Evaluation of Multisource Soil Moisture Products in a Managed Agricultural Region: An Integrated Hydrologic Modeling Approach

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2023
Soil moisture (SM) is important in understanding Earth's hydrologic cycles. However, an overall performance of multisource SM products is still unclear due to a lack of comprehensive validation.

Post‐Processed CMIP6 Climate Projections for Hydro‐Environmental Risk Assessment in the Middle East and Central Asia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Estimating water resources is important for regional climate impact analysis and risk estimation. The Middle East and Central Asia have largely reached the limit of sustainably usable water across their river basins and ecosystems. Strategies designed to mitigate environmental risks require a reliable estimation of water availability trends.
