Prebiotic plausibility and networks of paradox-resolving independent models

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
The plausibility of any model in science comes from the extent of its interconnections to other models that are grounded in different premises and reasoning.

Ceramic wiring board increases packaging density of electronic modules [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Ceramic multilayer wiring board interconnects large scale integration /LSI/ modules which dissipate nearly 2W/cc. Extremely high packaging density is possible by application of alumina cover hermetically sealed to board.

Current Tracking Adaptive Control of Brushless DC Motors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
In this paper, the current tracking for Brushless Direct Current motors is approached considering uncertainty in the parameters of the motor's model. An adaptive control scheme to compensate electrical parameters uncertainty is proposed without requiring any knowledge of the mechanical parameters.

H-Infinity Optimal Interconnections [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
In this paper, a general ℋ∞ problem for continuous time, linear time invariant systems is formulated and solved in a behavioral framework. This general formulation, which includes standard ℋ∞ optimization as a special case, provides added freedom in the ...

Development and Preliminary In Vivo Study of 3D‐Printed Bioactive Glass Scaffolds with Trabecular Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the fabrication of trabecular bioactive glass scaffolds (composition “1d”: 46.1SiO2‐28.7CaO‐8.8MgO‐6.2P2O5‐5.7CaF2‐4.5Na2O wt%) through vat photopolymerization and the relevant results from mechanical testing and in vivo implantation procedures in rabbit femora, showing great promise for bone tissue engineering applications.

Role of the porous structure of the bioceramic scaffolds in bone tissue engineering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The porous structure of biomaterials plays a critical role in improving the efficiency of biomaterials in tissue engineering. Here we fabricate successfully porous bioceramics with accurately controlled pore parameters, and investigate the effect of pore

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

Speed enhancement of complementary MOS devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Speed required for Sisyphus experiment on Pioneer probe was attained at supply voltage well within component limitations by combining supply voltage higher than nominal with low reactance interconnections.

Trace Nickel Activated Biphasic Core‐CuOii/Shell‐CuOi Secondary Microspheres Enable Room Temperature Parts‐Per‐Trillion‐Level NO2 Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An idea of designing novel sensors is proposed by creating appropriate Schottky barriers and vacancies between isomorphous Core‐CuOii/ Shell‐CuOi secondary microspheres and enhancing catalytic and spill‐over effects, and electronegativity via spontaneous biphasic separation, self‐assembly, and trace‐Ni‐doping.
