Characterizing interdisciplinarity in drug research: a translational science perspective [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Informetrics 2021, 2021
Despite the significant advances in life science, it still takes decades to translate a basic drug discovery into a cure for human disease. To accelerate the process from bench to bedside, interdisciplinary research (especially research involving both basic research and clinical research) has been strongly recommend by many previous studies.

Interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary career studies [PDF]

open access: yesHuman Relations, 2010
This is the opening article in a Human Relations special issue on ‘Interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary career studies’. After introducing a story of an ‘exceptional — but real’ career, we argue for an urgent shift toward greater interdisciplinary inquiry. We reflect on the story to describe differences in the way each of psychology, sociology,

Influence of Pump Current Waveform on The Mitigation of Transverse Mode Instability in Fiber Laser Oscillator

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
We carry out a detailed investigation of TMI mitigation by pump modulation based on multiple current waveforms in a fiber laser oscillator. Compared with continuous wave (CW), the modulation of various waveforms, including sinusoidal wave, triangular ...

Delayed Impact of Interdisciplinary Research [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Interdisciplinary research increasingly fuels innovation, and is considered to be a key to tomorrow breakthrough. Yet little is known about whether interdisciplinary research manifests delayed impact. Here, we use the time to reach the citation peak to quantify the highest impact time and citation dynamics, and examine its relationship with ...

There’s Nothing about Mary: The Insignificance of Mary in the Gospel of Thomas 114 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Feminist approaches to early Christian texts have consistently evaluated female characters as the primary focus of analysis. Yet in doing so, placing the spotlight on the female figure inevitably pushes male figures, and by extension, the broader context

Revisiting the Enhanced Red Upconversion Emission from a Single β-NaYF4:Yb/Er Microcrystal By Doping with Mn2+ Ions

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2019
The presence of manganese ions (Mn2+) in Yb/Er-co-doped nanomaterials results in suppressing green (545 nm) and enhancing red (650 nm) upconversion (UC) emission, which can achieve single-red-band emission to enable applications in bioimaging and drug ...

Is Coronavirus-Related Research Becoming More Interdisciplinary? A Perspective of Co-occurrence Analysis and Diversity Measure of Scientific Articles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has had a significant repercussion on the health, economy, politics and environment, making coronavirus-related issues more complicated and difficult to solve adequately by relying on a single field. Interdisciplinary research can provide an effective solution to complex issues in the related field of

Clinical applications of next‐generation sequencing‐based ctDNA analyses in breast cancer: defining treatment targets and dynamic changes during disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.
