Dynamic interactions at the mineral–organic matter interface [PDF]
Minerals are widely assumed to protect organic matter (OM) from degradation in the environment, promoting the persistence of carbon in soil and sediments. In this Review, we describe the mechanisms and processes operating at the mineral–organic interface as they relate to OM transformation dynamics.

Optomechanical interface for probing matter-wave coherence [PDF]
AbstractWe combine matter-wave interferometry and cavity optomechanics to propose a coherent matter–light interface based on mechanical motion at the quantum level. We demonstrate a mechanism that is able to transfer non-classical features imprinted on the state of a matter-wave system to an optomechanical device, transducing them into distinctive ...

Interface tension in QCD matter [PDF]
Abstract In hot QCD matter with a colour confining-non-confining first order phase transition at Tc, the two phases can coexist at Tc with a stable interface in between. We show how the structure of this interface and its tension α can be determined with lattice MonteCarlo methods.

Compressible Matter at a Holographic Interface [PDF]
We study the interface between a fractional topological insulator and an ordinary insulator, both described using holography. By turning on a chemical potential we induce a finite density of matter localized at the interface. These are gapless surface excitations which are expected to have a fermionic character.

Quantum noise for Faraday light–matter interfaces [PDF]
In light matter interfaces based on the Faraday effect quite a number of quantum information protocols have been successfully demonstrated. In order to further increase the performance and fidelities achieved in these protocols a deeper understanding of the relevant noise and decoherence processes needs to be gained.

Absence of Physical Walls in Hot Gauge Theories [PDF]
This paper shows that there are no {\em physical} walls in the deconfined, high-temperature phase of $Z(2)$ lattice gauge theory. In a Hamiltonian formulation, the interface in the Wilson lines is not physical.
