Absence of Physical Walls in Hot Gauge Theories [PDF]
This paper shows that there are no {\em physical} walls in the deconfined, high-temperature phase of $Z(2)$ lattice gauge theory. In a Hamiltonian formulation, the interface in the Wilson lines is not physical.

A general concept for parallel near-field photochemical and radiation-induced chemical processes for the fabrication of nanopatterns of a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) is explored with three different processes:

A comprehensive approach to dark matter studies: exploration of simplified top-philic models [PDF]
Studies of dark matter lie at the interface of collider physics, astrophysics and cosmology. Constraining models featuring dark matter candidates entails the capability to provide accurate predictions for large sets of observables and compare them to a ...

An introduction to neutron reflectometry [PDF]
Specular neutron reflectivity is a neutron diffraction technique that provides information about the structure of surfaces or thin films. It enables the measurement of the neutron scattering length density profile perpendicular to the plane of a surface ...

Noise resilient quantum interface based on QND interaction
We propose a quantum interface protocol based on two quantum-non-demolition interactions (QND) arranged either in sequence or in parallel. Since the QND coupling arises naturally in interactions between light and a macroscopic ensemble of atoms, or ...

Controlling the reaction path is instrumental for developing efficient catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation. Here, the authors report that the ensemble of Pt single atoms coordinated with oxygen atoms in MIL-101 induces distinct reaction path to improve ...

Ecological IVIS design : using EID to develop a novel in-vehicle information system [PDF]
New in-vehicle information systems (IVIS) are emerging which purport to encourage more environment friendly or ‘green’ driving. Meanwhile, wider concerns about road safety and in-car distractions remain.

Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensors on Raman and Fluorescence Spectroscopy
The performance of chemical reactions has been enhanced immensely with surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-based sensors. In this review, the principle and application of SPR sensors are introduced and summarized thoroughly. We introduce the mechanism of the

Dirac and Majorana neutrinos in matter
We consider the matter effects on neutrinos moving in background on the basis of the corresponding quantum wave equations. Both Dirac and Majorana neutrino cases are discussed.

Generic conditions for stable hybrid stars
We study the mass-radius curve of hybrid stars, assuming a single first-order phase transition between nuclear and quark matter, with a sharp interface between the quark matter core and nuclear matter mantle.
