Compressible Matter at a Holographic Interface [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2012
We study the interface between a fractional topological insulator and an ordinary insulator, both described using holography. By turning on a chemical potential we induce a finite density of matter localized at the interface. These are gapless surface excitations which are expected to have a fermionic character.

Direct Evidence for Temporal Molecular Fractionation of Dissolved Organic Matter at the Iron Oxyhydroxide Interface.

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology, 2018
While the importance of organic matter adsorption onto reactive iron-bearing mineral surfaces to carbon stabilization in soils and sediments has been well-established, fundamental understanding of how compounds assemble at the mineral interface remains ...

Enhancement of Intracellular Calcium Ion Mobilization by Moderately but Not Highly Positive Material Surface Charges

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2020
Electrostatic forces at the cell interface affect the nature of cell adhesion and function; but there is still limited knowledge about the impact of positive or negative surface charges on cell-material interactions in regenerative medicine.

The Minimal CFL-Nuclear Interface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
At nuclear matter density, electrically neutral strongly interacting matter in weak equilibrium is made of neutrons, protons and electrons. At sufficiently high density, such matter is made of up, down and strange quarks in the color-flavor locked phase,

Weak antilocalization in topological crystalline insulator SnTe films deposited using amorphous seeding on SrTiO3

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2021
Topological crystalline insulators (TCIs) promise spin-polarized or dissipationless transport, which can be controlled by crystal symmetry breaking through applied strain or electric field.

Interface effects of strange quark matter [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2019
The interface effects play important roles for the properties of strange quark matter (SQM) and the related physical processes. We show several examples on the implications of interface effects for both stable and unstable SQM. Based on an equivparticle model and adopting mean-field approximation (MFA), the surface tension and curvature term of SQM can

MadDM v.1.0: Computation of Dark Matter Relic Abundance Using MadGraph5 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present MadDM v.1.0, a numerical tool to compute dark matter relic abundance in a generic model. The code is based on the existing MadGraph 5 architecture and as such is easily integrable into any MadGraph collider study.

An integrated processor for photonic quantum states using a broadband light–matter interface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Faithful storage and coherent manipulation of quantum optical pulses are key for long distance quantum communications and quantum computing. Combining these functions in a light–matter interface that can be integrated on-chip with other photonic quantum ...

Groundwater as a major source of dissolved organic matter to Arctic coastal waters

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Groundwater is projected to become an increasing source of freshwater and nutrients to the Arctic Ocean as permafrost thaws, yet few studies have quantified groundwater inputs to Arctic coastal waters under contemporary conditions. New measurements along
