Bioinspired Interfaces with Superwettability: From Materials to Chemistry.
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2016Superwettability is a special case of the wetting phenomenon among liquids, gases, and solids. The superhydrophobic/superhydrophilic effect discovered initially has undergone a century of development based on materials science and biomimetics.

Electrolyte cations and anions in aqueous solutions are hydrogen bond breaker. We found that most of anions are strong hydrogen bond breaker whereas cations are not. Further, the electro-reduction of Mg(H2O)6(2+) to Mg(OH)2 and the growth of the Mg(OH)2 were observed on Au electrode surface at negative electrode potential.

Conventional type systems specify interfaces in terms of values and domains. We present a light-weight formalism that captures the temporal aspects of software component interfaces. Specifically, we use an automata-based language to capture both input assumptions about the order in which the methods of a component ...

Interfaces and Interface Conditions
2007The volume contains articles that focus on the interface between linguistic and conceptual knowledge. The issues addressed in the volume include the preconditions of every level of the language system that are required for the transformation of linguistic information into conceptual representations.

Designing the interface designer's interface
Proceedings of the 1st annual ACM SIGGRAPH symposium on User Interface Software, 1988The concepts of a user interface management system (UIMS) and user interface designer have become well known in the user interface and graphics community. Most UIMSs developed so far have concentrated on the efficiency of generating the user interface; the user interface designer's interface has received relatively little attention.

A Non-oscillatory Eulerian Approach to Interfaces in Multimaterial Flows (the Ghost Fluid Method)
, 1999While Eulerian schemes work well for most gas flows, they have been shown to admit nonphysical oscillations near some material interfaces. In contrast, Lagrangian schemes work well at multimaterial interfaces, but suffer from their own difficulties in ...

Polyphenols are important molecules in living organisms, particularly in plants, where they serve as protectants against predators. They are also of fundamental importance in pharmacology for their antioxidant and antibacterial activities. Since a few years polyphenols are also used in surface functionalization mimicking the tannin deposition observed ...

AbstractThe equilibrium segregation of dilute solutes to interfaces in solids is defined and reviewed. Experimental techniques for measuring segregation to grain boundaries, free surfaces, and interphase interfaces are outlined and their relative merits discussed.
