Interfacial area measurements in subcooled flow boiling

open access: yes, 2001
The purpose of the present study was to measure two-phase parameters in subcooled flow boiling. These parameters include void fraction distribution, interfacial area concentration distribution, Sauter mean diameter, and the interfacial velocity.

Interfacial area and interfacial transfer in two-phase flow systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Experiments were performed on horizontal air-water bubbly two-phase flow, axial flow, stratified wavy flow, and annular flow. Theoretical studies were also undertaken on interfacial parameters for a horizontal two-phase flow. (DLC)

Experimental study on interfacial area transport in vertical upward bubbly two-phase flow in an annulus

open access: yes, 2003
In relation to the development of the interfacial area transport equation, axial developments of local void fraction, interfacial area concentration, and interfacial velocity of vertical upward bubbly flows in an annulus with the hydraulic equivalent ...

Effect of Electrolyte Concentration on Bubble Size and Gas-Liquid Interfacial Area in Bubble Column

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2005
The optimum conditions of bubble column would be the ones that enhance mass transfer and this is accomplished by maximizing gas-liquid interfacial area. In the present work the effect of electrolyte concentration (aqueous solution of sodium chloride NaCl

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Determination of Interfacial Area in Gas-Liquid Two Phase by Light Transmission [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2012
The purpose of the present paper is to develop light beam method to measurement of interfacial area in a rectangular gas-liquid bubble column. Total interfacial area can be determined in bubble column filled by transparent liquid by light transmission ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Interfacial Heat Transfer of Condensation Bubble with Consideration of Bubble Number Distribution in Subcooled Flow Boiling

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2013
For predicting the void fraction distribution in subcooled flow boiling, it is necessary to measure the interfacial heat transfer coefficient—which determines the amount of condensation rate of vapor bubble—with high accuracy.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Internal structure and interfacial area in two-phase flow systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The interfacial transfer terms and the importance of the interfacial area concentration are reviewed first with respect to the two-fluid model formulation of two-phase flow systems.
