Improving Determination of Pigment Contents in Microalgae Suspension with Absorption Spectroscopy: Light Scattering Effect and Bouguer–Lambert–Beer Law

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2023
The Bouguer–Lambert–Beer (BLB) law serves as the fundamental basis for the spectrophotometric determination of pigment content in microalgae. Although it has been observed that the applicability of the BLB law is compromised by the light scattering ...

Improving interfacial adhesion in pla/wood biocomposites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Two reactive coupling agents, N,N-(1,3-phenylene dimaleiimide) (BMI) and 1,1-(methylenedi-4,1-phenylene)bismaleimide (DBMI) were used to improve interfacial adhesion in PLA/wood composites.

Contactless Interfacial Rheology: Probing Shear at Liquid-Liquid Interfaces without an Interfacial Geometry via Fluorescence Microscopy

open access: yes, 2022
Interfacial rheology is important for understanding properties such as Pickering emulsion or foam stability. Currently, the response is measured using a probe directly attached to the interface.

Transposition from a batch to a continuous process for microencapsulation by interfacial polycondensation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A novel continuous process is proposed and investigated to produce microcapsules by interfacial polycondensation. Polymeric microcapsules are obtained via a two-step process including an initial emulsification of two immiscible fluids in static mixers ...

Interfacial Engineering Methods in Thermoplastic Composites: An Overview

open access: yesPolymers, 2023
The paper critically analyzed different interfacial enhancing methods used in thermoplastic composites. Although the absence of cross-linked polymer chains and chemical bonds on solidification enables the thermoplastics to be remelted, it creates weak interfacial adhesion between fibre reinforcements and the thermoplastic matrix.

Bioinspired interfacial engineering for highly stretchable electronics. [PDF]

open access: yesNat Commun
The seamless integration of rigid/flexible electronic components into stretchable substrates is imperative for the realization of reliable stretchable electronics. However, the transition from flexible-to-stretchable substrates presents inherent challenges in interfacial behavior, predominantly arising from disparities in elastic moduli, thereby ...

Interfacial engineering of transition-metal sulfides heterostructures with built-in electric-field effects for enhanced oxygen evolution reaction

open access: yes, 2022
Developing highly efficient, durable, and non-noble electrocatalysts for the sluggish anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is the pivotal for meeting the practical demand in water splitting.

Interfacial behaviour in Tunnel engineering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The force imparted on the soil by a tunnel boring machine can lead to catastrophic tunnel collapse. To help predict this behaviour the machine is modelled as point source in an elastic/plastic idealized soil with no cohesion. The model predicts a wedge shaped region of plasticity extending from the machine.
