Interfacial engineering of solid electrolytes

open access: yesJournal of Materiomics, 2015
AbstractThe roles of interfaces in either blocking or enhancing ionic conduction in various types of solid electrolytes, including lithium, sodium, oxygen and other types of ion conductors as well as proton conductors, are critically reviewed. Two important fundamental interfacial phenomena, namely the formation of space charges and two-dimensional ...

Regulating electronic structure of two‐dimensional porous Ni/Ni3N nanosheets architecture by Co atomic incorporation boosts alkaline water splitting

open access: yesInfoMat, 2022
Interfacial engineering is a powerful method to improve the bifunctional electrocatalytic performance of pure phase catalysts. While it is expected to further optimize the electronic configuration of heterojunctions to boost the reaction kinetics in ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Blood-Vessel Mimicking Structures by Stereolithographic Fabrication of Small Porous Tubes Using Cytocompatible Polyacrylate Elastomers, Biofunctionalization and Endothelialization

open access: yesJournal of Functional Biomaterials, 2016
Blood vessel reconstruction is still an elusive goal for the development of in vitro models as well as artificial vascular grafts. In this study, we used a novel photo-curable cytocompatible polyacrylate material (PA) for freeform generation of synthetic

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Nanoscale Interfacial Engineering for Flexible Barrier Films

open access: yesNano Letters, 2015
Alternating layers of organic and oxide thin films used as diffusion barriers in emerging flexible device technologies are vulnerable to degradation under the influence of mechanical stresses, temperature cycling, photodegradation, and chemically active environmental species.

Tailoring the Interface with a Multifunctional Ligand for Highly Efficient and Stable FAPbI3 Perovskite Solar Cells and Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
Perovskite solar cells (PeSCs) using FAPbI3 perovskite films often exhibit unfavorable phase transitions and defect‐induced nonradiative interfacial recombination, resulting in considerable energy loss and impairing the performance of PeSCs in terms of ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Simultaneous Detection of Different MicroRNA Types Using the ZIP-Code Array System

open access: yesJournal of Nucleic Acids, 2013
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are important negative regulators of gene expression. Their implication in tumorigenesis is based on their dysregulation in many human cancer diseases.
