Polarization Structure of Interfacial Amorphous Films

Nature, 1969
ONE of us1–4 has already established that amorphous surface layers have a persistent character which can manifest itself in the oriented crystallization of material on top of them. The part played by these amorphous interfacial films in the transmission of structural information is not understood: it is not known whether they act merely as an inert ...

Stabilization of Interfacial Polarization and Induction of Polarization Hysteresis in Organic MISIM Devices

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2021
Molecule-based ferroelectrics has attracted much attention because of its advantages, such as flexibility, light weight, and low environmental load. In the present work, we examined an organic metal|insulator|semiconductor|insulator|metal (MISIM) device structure to stabilize the interfacial polarization in the S layer and to induce polarization ...

Interfacial Polarization for High-Performance Triboelectric Devices: Principles, Strategies, and Applications.

ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces
With the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions and self-powered sensing devices, triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have gained considerable attention due to their ability to efficiently convert mechanical energy into electricity with the ...

Polar Interfacial Interactions in RPLC

Israel Journal of Chemistry, 1990
AbstractThe three principal forces that govern the interaction between dissolved proteins and solid (flat or particulate) surfaces immersed in a polar liquid are:A. Lifshitz‐van der Waals forces (LW interactions)B. Polar (hydrogen bond, or Lewis acid‐base) forces (AB interactions, which include “hydrophobic” interactions)C.

Fluorescent probes used to monitor membrane interfacial polarity

Chemistry and Physics of Lipids, 1999
The polarity of the interface between a lipid bilayer membrane and bulk water is an important physical parameter of the membrane. It is likely that several membrane-dependent biological functions are modulated by this property. However, interfacial polarity can be difficult to define because of an imprecise knowledge of the molecular nature of the ...

Low-Temperature Separating Lithium-Ion Battery Interfacial Polarization Based on Distribution of Relaxation Times (DRT) of Impedance

IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, 2021
Noninvasive techniques for evaluating lithium-ion batteries treated as an important component of transportation electrification are of great importance. A method for separating and interpreting battery interfacial processes is proposed, which is based on

Interfacial Polarization in Single-Crystal NaCl

Journal of Applied Physics, 1966
Capacitance and conductance dispersions and a dissipation factor maximum were observed in single-crystal NaCl specimens at temperatures between 300° and 400°C. Probe measurements of the potential profile across these specimens in a dc field revealed the presence of a large potential drop in a very thin region adjacent to each electrode comparable in ...

Enhancing contact triboelectrification by coupling interfacial spontaneous polarization and permittivity manipulation

Applied Physics Letters
The electricity generation of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) originates from charge transfer enabled by contact electrification. However, the inherent barrier between two contacting surfaces hampers the triboelectric charge transfer.

Interfacial polarization in statistical mixtures

Journal of Surface Investigation. X-ray, Synchrotron and Neutron Techniques, 2010
The results of experiments on the interfacial polarization intrinsic to a dielectric-semiconductor statistical mixture are discussed. A new qualitative model applicable for description of interfacial polarization in macrosystems is proposed.

Interfacial Properties of Polar Liquids Against Nonpolar Phases

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1974
The interfacial tension of 10 polar liquids against hexane and tetradecane and the contact angle against paraffin, polyethylene, and polytetrafluoroethylene were measured. Work-of-adhesion values against any one nonpolar phase, calculated from these data, are independent of the polar liquid used.
