Effect of surfactant surface and interfacial tension reduction on infiltration into hydrophobic porous media

open access: yesGeoderma
Surfactant molecules increase the infiltration rate into hydrophobic porous media by lowering the infiltrating water's surface tension and the interfacial tension between hydrophobic surfaces and water molecules.

Comparação entre duas teorias para a determinação da tensão interfacial pelo método de fibra quebrante Comparison between two theories for determination of interfacial tension with the breaking thread method

open access: yesPolímeros, 2003
A tensão interfacial entre polímeros fundidos é um fator chave para a predição da morfologia de blendas poliméricas. Neste trabalho, as teorias de Tomotika e Tjahjadi et al.

Interfacial strength development in thermoplastic resins and fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites [PDF]

open access: yes
An experimental program to develop test methods to be used to characterize interfacial (autohesive) strength development in polysulfone thermoplastic resin and graphite-polysulfone prepreg during processing is reported.

Surface free energy and microarray deposition technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Microarray techniques use a combinatorial approach to assess complex biochemical interactions. The fundamental goal is simultaneous, large-scale experimentation analogous to the automation achieved in the semiconductor industry.

Interfacial tension at the interface of a system of molten oxide and molten steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper is focused on a study of the interfacial tension between selected oxide and metal phases. The experimental research on the interfacial tension was performed in a horizontal resistive graphite Tamman furnace using an original method of ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Non-equilibrium interfaces in colloidal fluids

open access: yes, 2013
The time-dependent structure, interfacial tension, and evaporation of an oversaturated colloid-rich (liquid) phase in contact with an undersaturated colloid-poor (vapor) phase of a colloidal dispersion is investigated theoretically during the early-stage

Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Recommendations on determination of interfacial tension at the interface between two fluids by the spinning drop method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
There are studied popular methods of B. Vonnegut, H. Princen, J. Slattery, S. Torza for measuring the interfacial tension at the interface between two immiscible fluids by the spinning drop method.
