Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

A Mainlobe Interference Suppression Method for Small Hydrophone Arrays

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
In order to solve the problem of mainlobe interference in small hydroacoustic array signal processing, this paper proposes a beamforming method based on the high-resolution direction of arrival (DOA) estimation and interference coherence matrix (ICM ...

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Enhancement and suppression of spontaneous emission and light scattering by quantum degeneracy

open access: yes, 2000
Quantum degeneracy modifies light scattering and spontaneous emission. For fermions, Pauli blocking leads to a suppression of both processes. In contrast, in a weakly interacting Bose-Einstein condensate, we find spontaneous emission to be enhanced ...

Multi-Interference Suppression Network: Joint Waveform and Filter Design for Radar Interference Suppression

open access: yesElectronics
With the advancement of electromagnetic interference and counter-interference technology, complex and unpredictable interference signals greatly reduce radar detection, tracking, and recognition performance. In multi-interference environments, the overlap of interference cross-correlation peaks can mask target signals, weakening radar interference ...

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

The effects of sinusoidal interference on the second-order carrier tracking loop preceded by a bandpass limiter in the Block 4 receiver [PDF]

open access: yes
Drop-lock relationships for the second-order phase-locked loop are derived when the carrier and a sinusoidal signal lie within the predetection filter bandwidth of the Block 4 receiver.

Measurement of Dielectric Suppression of Bremsstrahlung

open access: yes, 1995
In 1953, Ter-Mikaelian predicted that the bremsstrahlung of low energy photons in a medium is suppressed because of interactions between the produced photon and the electrons in the medium. This suppression occurs because the emission takes place over on

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
