Fully exploiting the broad untapped terahertz spectrum necessitates extending the bandwidth of practical guided‐wave systems. This work introduces a substrateless quasi‐optical integration platform to meet this need. Classical optical principles going back to the time of Michelson are adapted to a planar, micro‐machined, monolithic‐silicon platform ...

FtsH degrades kinetically stable dimers of cyclopropane fatty acid synthase via an internal degron
The cellular proteome is in a constant state of flux, as changes in the environment necessitate rapid functional responses, often via mechanisms involving protein degradation. FtsH, a membrane‐bound AAA+ protease, degrades cyclopropane fatty acid synthase, an enzyme that is transiently upregulated upon entrance into stationary phase.

Methodology for Stress Concentration Analysis in Corrosion Pits Using the Finite Element Method
The stress concentration factor (Kt ${K}_{{\rm{t}}}$) calculated using the methodology proposed for discretized models can be significantly higher compared with analytical models. Discretized models base the corrosion pit shape on measurements through surface topographic techniques, while analytical models simplify the pit shape to elliptical ...
