Determination of polarization structures of an electromagnetic beam after passing through lens systems

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
We investigate the polarization structures of an electromagnetic (EM) beam after passing through 2-f and 4-f lens systems and possibilities to control them.

A Comparison of Delayed Self-Heterodyne Interference Measurement of Laser Linewidth Using Mach-Zehnder and Michelson Interferometers

open access: yesSensors, 2011
Linewidth measurements of a distributed feedback (DFB) fibre laser are made using delayed self heterodyne interferometry (DHSI) with both Mach-Zehnder and Michelson interferometer configurations.

A Microwave Polarimeter Demonstrator for Astronomy with Near-Infra-Red Up-Conversion for Optical Correlation and Detection

open access: yesSensors, 2019
This paper presents a 10 to 20 GHz bandwidth microwave polarimeter demonstrator, based on the implementation of a near-infra-red frequency up-conversion stage that allows both the optical correlation, when operating as a synthesized-image interferometer,

Liquid crystal based spectral control for applications in optical communication and metrology

open access: yesResults in Optics, 2020
The molecules of nematic liquid crystals (LCs), aligned in one average direction, constitute a birefringent medium. The molecules in nematic LCs of positive anisotropy (ne>no) get aligned in the direction of applied electric field due to the induced ...

Refractive Index Compensation in Over-Determined Interferometric Systems

open access: yesSensors, 2012
We present an interferometric technique based on a differential interferometry setup for measurement under atmospheric conditions. The key limiting factor in any interferometric dimensional measurement are fluctuations of the refractive index of air ...

Optimized Strategy for Fabricating High‐Aspect‐Ratio Periodic Structures Over Large Areas Using ps‐Direct Laser Interference Patterning

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Picosecond direct laser interference patterning (DLIP) enables precise microstructure fabrication on stainless steel. Using a multiscan approach, high‐aspect‐ratio patterns are achieved. Fluence influences structure growth and homogeneity, with smaller periods yielding better uniformity.
