Broadband spectral shaping using nematic liquid crystal

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
We demonstrate what is, to our knowledge, the first implementation of nematic liquid crystal (LC) for spectral shaping of broadband light fields. A LC cell of several microns thickness is placed between a polarizer and an analyzer.

Scalable, tailored purity heralded single-photon source enabled by second harmonic generation of GHz-rate ultrashort pulsed laser [PDF]

open access: yesAPL Quantum
We demonstrate a miniaturized, scalable high rate, pulsed single-photon source in the telecom band obtained by heralding a spontaneous parametric downconversion source pumped with a highly tunable GHz repetition rate pulsed laser in an all-guided wave ...

Application of GNSS Interferometric Reflectometry for the Estimation of Lake Ice Thickness

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Lake ice thickness is a sensitive indicator of climate change largely through its dependency on near-surface air temperature and on-ice snow mass (depth and density). Monitoring of the seasonal variations and trends in ice thickness is also important for

Spectrally Resolved White Light Interferometry for NaCl Aqueous Solutions Refractive Index Measurement

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2021
In this work, a technique for comparing refractive indices for solutions of low concentrations has been developed. The method of direct spectral detection developed by the authors has been using.

Reflection effects in interferometry [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 1975
Spurious distortions of interference fringes are often encountered in the interferometry of planar solidfluid phase boundaries. These distortions mimic refractive-index variations near the interface and introduce uncertainty in locating the position of the interface on the interferogram.

Absolute Measurement of the Refractive Index of Water by a Mode-Locked Laser at 518 nm

open access: yesSensors, 2018
In this paper, we demonstrate a method using a frequency comb, which can precisely measure the refractive index of water. We have developed a simple system, in which a Michelson interferometer is placed into a quartz-glass container with a low expansion ...

Quantum nonlocal double slit interference with partially coherent qubits

open access: yesResults in Physics
Partially coherent quantum-entangled beams combine quantum correlation with partial coherence, allowing them to maintain quantum characteristics while being more resistant to distortions caused by random media during propagation.

Effect of oceanic turbulence on the statistical features of electromagnetic optical beam

open access: yesResults in Physics
This work deals with the intricate problem of electromagnetic optical beam propagation through oceanic turbulence. Using the extended Huygens–Fresnel principle, numerically, the behavior of the degree of cross-polarization (DOCP), electromagnetic degree ...
