Plasma‐assisted fabrication of multiscale materials for electrochemical energy conversion and storage

open access: yesCarbon Energy, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2025.
In this review, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of plasma and its application in energy storage and conversion. The classification of plasma technologies and principles are summarized. Recent developments in the synthesis or modification of multiscale materials based on plasma techniques including conversion, doping, deposition, and ...

Interacting Dark Matter and q‐Deformed Dark Energy Nonminimally Coupled to Gravity

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
In this paper, we propose a new approach to study the dark sector of the universe by considering the dark energy as an emerging q‐deformed bosonic scalar field which is not only interacting with the dark matter, but also nonminimally coupled to gravity, in the framework of standard Einsteinian gravity.

Cosmic Reionization on Computers: The Evolution of the Ionizing Background and Mean Free Path

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Observations of the end stages of reionization indicate that at z  ≈ 5–6, the ionizing background is not uniform and the mean free path (MFP) changes drastically.

FAST RADIO BURSTS AS PROBES OF MAGNETIC FIELDS IN THE INTERGALACTIC MEDIUM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We examine the proposal that the dispersion measures (DMs) and Faraday rotation measures (RMs) of extragalactic linearly polarized fast radio bursts (FRBs) can be used to probe the intergalactic magnetic field (IGMF) in filaments of galaxies.

Predator's Prey: Reframing indigenous representation and Hollywood franchise cinema in the age of SVOD

open access: yesThe Journal of Popular Culture, Volume 57, Issue 3, Page 175-188, June 2024.
Abstract Hulu's Prey (2022), the fifth installment of the Predator franchise, is set in 1719 and features a Comanche female protagonist. The setting is unlike the 1987 Predator and its sequels, with their hardbody machismo and conservative politics. We argue that Prey is a small but significant step in Hollywood, but its inclusivity comes at a price ...

Gamma‐Ray Bursts as Multienergy Neutrino Sources

open access: yesAdvances in Astronomy, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
We review theoretical models for nonelectromagnetic emission, mainly neutrinos and cosmic rays, from gamma‐ray bursts (GRBs). In various stages of the relativistic jet propagation, cosmic‐ray ion acceleration and subsequent neutrino emission are expected.

MIXING METALS UNDER STRIPPING GALACTIC GASEOUS HALOES: RADIATIVE LOSSES

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2008
We present two-dimensional numerical model for mixing of metals in the intergalactic medium under stripping of a galactic gaseous halo both in adiabatic and radiative cases.

Metals in the intergalactic medium [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2005
The absorption lines seen in the spectra of quasars trace gas over a very large range of overdensities, from galaxies to voids and probably account for most of the baryons at high redshift. Once thought to be a chemically pristine remnant of the Big Bang, the Lyman alpha forest has now been shown to contain significant quantities of metals.

The Natural Science Underlying Big History

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
Nature’s many varied complex systems—including galaxies, stars, planets, life, and society—are islands of order within the increasingly disordered Universe. All organized systems are subject to physical, biological, or cultural evolution, which together comprise the grander interdisciplinary subject of cosmic evolution.
