Double stage harmonic and interharmonic processing technique

2000 Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting (Cat. No.00CH37134), 2002
Measurement and analysis experiences have shown great difficulties in interharmonic detection and measurement due to their small amplitudes and their consequent vulnerability from harmonics spectral leakage. A new approach that has a general validity and results fully compatible with the IEC standard is presented.

A Two-Stage ADALINE for Harmonics and Interharmonics Measurement

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2009
Harmonics and interharmonics may introduce operational problems in electrical and electronic equipment. Therefore, monitoring harmonics/interharmonics for improving the power quality is of importance for both electric utilities and their customers. In this paper, a cascaded two-stage adaptive linear element (ADALINE) structure for both harmonics and ...

On the Effects of Unbalances, Harmonics and Interharmonics on PLL Systems

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2013
The effects of unbalances, harmonics, and interharmonics on PLL systems are analyzed. After a brief review of some typical schemes for three-phase and single-phase PLLs, an analytical assessment of the phase angle and frequency errors for PLLs in the presence of disturbances is performed to obtain simple analytical formulas.

Some considerations on interharmonic voltage limits and their assessment

2008 43rd International Universities Power Engineering Conference, 2008
Some considerations on interharmonic voltages limits and their assessment are developed. Reference is made to recent activities in the standard review process and to research literature regarding this specific topic and related issues. Some recalls on the main interharmonic voltages effects are reported.

Interharmonics in power systems

2001 Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37262), 2001
IEC-61000-2-1 defines interharmonic as follows: between the harmonics of the power frequency voltage and current, further frequencies can be observed which are not an integer of the fundamental. They can appear as discrete frequencies or as a wideband spectrum.

Interharmonic analysis and mitigation in adjustable speed drives

IECON 2014 - 40th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2014
This paper presents the theoretical background and studies on the supply side current interharmonics in a double-stage Adjustable Speed Drive (ASD), when they are initiated by motor current imbalance. Some useful approaches are then proposed to compensate for these interharmonic currents in partially and/or fully controlled ASD, resulting in ...

On the processing of harmonics and interharmonics in electrical power systems

2000 IEEE Power Engineering Society Winter Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37077), 2002
A recent IEC standard draft gives new definitions and methods for measurement and interpretation of results for harmonics and interharmonics, in particular introducing the concept of the harmonic and interharmonic groups. This paper analyses the spectral leakage problems due to a nonsynchronization of the analyzed waveforms with the window width ...

Operation and Control of a DVR in the Presence of Interharmonics

International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems, 2008
The paper discusses the operating principles and control characteristics of a dynamic voltage restorer (DVR). It is assumed that the source voltages contain interharmonic components in addition to fundamental components. The main aim of the DVR is to produce a set of clean balanced sinusoidal voltages across the load terminals irrespective of unbalance,

Harmonic and interharmonic currents compensation in DC line

2014 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2014
In this paper a strategy for the compensation of harmonic currents in DC bus has been proposed. By means of a multilevel converter, low amplitude harmonic currents due to the interaction between primary converters operating in different conditions and connected to the same DC bus, are compensated.

Damping torsional interharmonic effects of large drives

2009 IEEE 6th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2009
Current source thyristor converters are the most widespread technology for large drives and today still a suitable choice for supplying high power variable speed drives for pumps and compressors because of excellent reliability records.
