Impact of Saturation on Transient Behavior of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

2006 Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2006
Interior permanent magnet synchronous machines have larger ferromagnetic path along the quadrature axis and as a result, the q-axis magnetizing reactance saturates significantly under normal operating conditions. Although, the effective air-gap path length along the direct axis is large, the d-axis magnetizing reactance also saturates up to a certain ...

High-Efficiency Line-Start Interior Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2004
This paper presents a successful design of a high-efficiency small but novel interior permanent-magnet motor using NdBFe magnets. It is designed to operate both at line and variable frequencies. Line start with high inertia load was a special consideration.

Interior type permanent magnet synchronous motor analysis by equivalent circuits

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1989
Experimental tests show that steady-state core loss of interior-type permanent magnet machines changes with the terminal voltage in a peculiar way due to flux redistribution produced by armature reaction. An equivalent circuit is proposed to predict such loss through new parameters that can be easily determined by experimental tests.

Dual Kalman Filters Analysis for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

2020
This paper deals with an analysis and design of Dual Extended Kalman Filters (DKFs) to estimate parameters and state variables in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (PMSMs) to be utilized in a control structure. A dual estimation problem consists of a simultaneous estimation of states of the dynamical system and its parameters using only noisy ...

Impact of Mechanical Stress on Characteristics of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2015
In this paper, we investigate the impact of mechanical stress on characteristics of interior permanent magnet synchronous motors from both results of measurement and calculation. First, the basic experiments by using stator cores with/without shrink fitting of housing are carried out.

Implementation of Emotional Controller for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drive

Conference Record of the 2006 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Forty-First IAS Annual Meeting, 2006
This paper presents for the first time the real-time implementation of an emotional controller for interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives. The proposed novel controller is called brain emotional learning based intelligent controller (BELBIC).

Analysis of an improved magnetic circuit in Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

2009 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2009
This paper analyzes an improved magnetic circuit in Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (IPMSM). It shows that this magnetic circuit can provide approximate sinusoidal waveforms of air-gap flux densities. Based on analysis of magnetic circuit model, the effect of magnet shape for flux densities has been studied. The Fourier Transformation (FT)

Optimal Shape Design of Interior Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor

IEEE International Conference on Electric Machines and Drives, 2005., 2005
Optimal shape design of interior permanent-magnet (IPM) synchronous motor has large effect in reducing the torque pulsation of the motor. However, the shape design variations should be feasible and manufacturable. In this research, optimal shape is obtained by drilling small circular holes in rotor.

Interior Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors for Adjustable-Speed Drives

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1986
Interior permanent-magnet (IPM) synchronous motors possess special features for adjustable-speed operation which distinguish them from other classes of ac machines. They are robust high powerdensity machines capable of operating at high motor and inverter efficiencies over wide speed ranges, including considerable ranges of constant-power operation ...

Multiobjective Optimal Design for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2009
This paper presents a method on a multiobjective optimal design of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) with V-shaped permanent magnet rotor for high performance. In general, a design method adopting equivalent magnetic circuit is used for basic design of IPMSM.
