Interlaminar fracture toughness for composite materials
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1993Abstract A new equation for the energy release rate for a double cantilever beam specimen is proposed within the framework of the higher order shear deformable plate theory. The interlaminar fracture toughnesses (IFTs) found using the present theory, the ASTM round robin test method and the acoustic emission method are compared for thermoset graphite/

Interlaminar fracture toughness of aramid/epoxy laminates
Composites Science and Technology, 1993The Mode I interlaminar fracture toughness of woven aramid-fibre/epoxy laminates has been investigated as a function of the fibre surface properties. Values of GIC were found to increase significantly with increasing crack length as a consequence of the presence of fibre bridging in the wake of the propagating crack.
