Modified Short Beam Shear Test for Measurement of Interlaminar Shear Strength of Composites
Journal of Composite Materials, 2003A modified short beam shear test was proposed to measure interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of fiber reinforced carbon-carbon composites (CCC). The direct loading in the short beam shear (SBS) test is replaced by an indirect loading through a rubber pad and an aluminum seat.

Evaluation of interlaminar shear of laminate by 3D digital holography
Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 2017In this paper, we propose a three-color holographic interferometer devoted to the 3D displacement field analysis of a composite material. The method in applied to analyze cracks during a short beam shear test. The tested materials are a glass/epoxy composite, a flax/carbon/epoxy composite and a flax/epoxy composite.

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and vapor-grown carbon nanofibers (VGCNFs) were grafted with poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride) (SMA) and poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) by free radical polymerization, and used as the secondary reinforcing agent ...

In order to improve the interlaminar shearing strength of carbon fiber/pyrolytic carbon (Cf/PyC) composites, SiC nanowires (SiCNWs) growing at different positions were introduced into carbon fiber/pyrolytic carbon composites to generate carbon fiber-SiC ...

Analysis of the interlaminar shear strength of mica/epoxy insulations
Composites, 1984Abstract The interlaminar shear strength of mica/epoxy layers was measured by the use of four test methods. It was found that the apparent shear strength is considerably influenced by additional stress (compressive or tensile) normal to the plane, and that the intrinsic shear strength may be determined by letting the compressive stress tend to zero ...

Interlaminar shear strength of fibre metal laminates after thermal cycles
Composite structures, 2018Fibre Metal Laminates are characterized by low density, high static and fatigue strength, high impact resistance and good corrosion resistance. Currently some new solutions of FML which will contain carbon fibre reinforced polymer layers with aluminium ...

Problems of Cryogenic Interlaminar Shear Strength Testing
1984Increasingly large quantities of filamentary composite materials are being employed as structural members because composites combine material lightness with good strength, manageability of load paths and, in many cases, thermal and electrical insulating capability.
