The Nanomechanical Effect of Dendrimer Interlayers Underneath Cu Ultrathin Films

open access: yes, 2002
Two kinds of dendrimers, DAB and PAMAM (with the same terminal groups but different branched repeat units), were chosen as interlayers for Cu ultrathin films deposited on native oxide Si(100) wafers.

Exchange‐Coupled Two‐Dimensional MOFs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene mediates ferromagnetic coupling between two‐dimensional metal‐organic frameworks and cobalt. Fe‐tetracyanobenzene develops a remanent magnetic response whose orientation follows the cobalt magnetization direction and persists up to room temperature, whereas Ni‐TCNB remains only field‐polarized.

Programmable Soft Actuator with Multi‐Responsiveness Based on Conductive MOF‐Liquid Crystal Polymer Composite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequential dual‐alignment strategy independently programs the orientation of conductive metal‐organic framework (c‐MOF) microrods and liquid crystals within a composite film. This approach creates an asymmetric bilayer structure that enables precise, multi‐responsive actuation.

Friction welding of titanium to 304L stainless steel using interlayers

open access: yes, 2011
Friction welding of commercially pure titanium to austenitic stainless steel (AISI 304L SS) using intermediate layers was studied. The interlayers used were commercially pure nickel, tantalum and vanadium in the form of thin foils.

Pressure‐Assisted Dimensional Transformation of 2D Hydrogenated Borophene into 0D Boron Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrogenated borophene (HB) is transformed into distinct boron nanostructures through a solvent‐free thermal process. Under flowing nitrogen, hydrogen escape promotes reconstruction into B2O3 nanoplatelets, whereas hydrogen‐induced pressure under sealed conditions facilitates fragmentation into boron quantum dots.

Morphology of Si/Tungsten-Silicide/Si Interlayers

open access: yes, 1991
Tungsten and tungsten-silicides are of interest for semiconductor technology because of their refractory nature, low electrical-resistivity and high electromigration-resistance.

Anisotropic Phonon Dynamics and Directional Transport in Actinide Van der Waals Semiconductor Uranium Triselenide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
USe3 is introduced as an actinide van der Waals semiconductor that mirrors the quasi‐one‐dimensional physics of transition‐metal trichalcogenides. Polarization‐resolved Raman spectroscopy on exfoliated flakes maps strong in‐plane phonon anisotropy and strain‐tunable mode shifts.

Numerical Simulation Analysis of the Influence of Interlayer Quantity on the Long-Term Stable Operation of Gas Storage Facilities

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Salt rock is considered as an ideal energy storage medium, and compressed air energy storage by a salt cavern can improve the utilisation efficiency of renewable energy.
