Programmable Soft Actuator with Multi‐Responsiveness Based on Conductive MOF‐Liquid Crystal Polymer Composite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequential dual‐alignment strategy independently programs the orientation of conductive metal‐organic framework (c‐MOF) microrods and liquid crystals within a composite film. This approach creates an asymmetric bilayer structure that enables precise, multi‐responsive actuation.

Mechanistic modelling of weak interlayers in flexible and semi-flexible road pavements: Part 2

open access: yesJournal of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers, 2012
This paper (Part 2 of a two-part set of papers) discusses models and illustrates the adverse effects of weak layers, interlayers, laminations and/or weak interfaces in flexible and semi-flexible pavements, also incorporating lightly cemented layers.

Influence of Temperature on Laminated Glass Performances Assembled with Various Interlayers

open access: yesChallenging Glass Conference Proceedings, 2016
The increasing demand for use of laminated glass in building facades is the driving force for new interlayers testing and their implementation.

Artificial alteration of biotite into a 14/~ layer silicate with hydroxy-aluminum interlayers: Clays

open access: yes, 1974
--Biotite was altered by boiling in 0.2 M AIC13 solution, and the products were examined by X-ray powder and single-crystal diffraction, chemical analysis and thermogravimetry. The altered material is a 14 A clay mineral with hydroxy-Al interlayers.

Stress and Defect Control in GaN Using Low Temperature Interlayers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
In organometallic vapor phase epitaxial growth of Gail on sapphire, the role of the low- temperature-deposited interlayers inserted between high-temperature-grown GaN layers was investigated by in situ stress measurement, X-ray diffraction, and ...

Spatially Regulated Silicon Clusters in Trimodal Composite Anodes for High‐Energy Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A trimodal anode architecture spatially regulates silicon clusters within confined interstitial environments formed by graphite and contorted hexabenzocoronene. This confinement suppresses silicon aggregation and localized stress while enabling efficient Li‐ion transport, achieving high‐capacity, stable lithium‐ion batteries.

Interface Engineering in FAST/SPS-Processed Multi-Material Metallic Systems: Bonding Mechanisms, Interfacial Reactions, and Mechanical Integrity

open access: yesMetals
Engineering components often require different properties in different regions, and a single material may not provide all of them. Reliable joining is important for refractory metal–steel, dissimilar superalloy, and Ti/Mg combinations.

Electrically Induced Phase Transition and Synaptic Functionality in MoTe2/Graphene Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An electrically induced reversible 2H ↔ 1T′ phase transition is demonstrated in a vertical Au/Ti/MoTe2/graphene memristor with a laterally contacted graphene electrode. Resistive switching proceeds through a compositionally invariant amorphous/2H ↔ amorphous/1T′ transformation, in which a self‐formed amorphous MoTe2 interfacial region is proposed to ...

Research on the Distribution Law of Interlayer and Remaining Oil in Braided River Delta Reservoirs

open access: yesCejing jishu
L2 area of the Tarim oilfield is a typical braided river delta bottom-water reservoir. During its development, it faces challenges such as high difficulty in interlayer identification, unclear understanding of interlayer distribution patterns, and ...

The Use of Disordered Interlayers to Enhance Nucleation of Silicon Nitride During Chemical Vapor Deposition

open access: yes, 1995
Thin, disordered interlayers were used to enhance the nucleation of Si3N4. Continuous crystalline films were formed at relatively low temperatures (<1250°C) by using an amorphous, Sirich interlayer.
