Sharing of the interleukin-2 (IL-2) receptor gamma chain between receptors for IL-2 and IL-4.
Science, 1993The gamma chain of the interleukin-2 (IL-2) receptor is an indispensable subunit for IL-2 binding and intracellular signal transduction. A monoclonal antibody to the gamma chain, TUGm2, inhibited IL-2 binding to the functional IL-2 receptors and also ...

The regulatory, inflammatory, and T cell programming roles of interleukin-2 (IL-2).
Journal of Autoimmunity, 2008Signaling through IL-2 induces the activation of pathways that lead to the proliferation, survival and cytokine production of effector T cells. However, through negative feedback mechanisms, internalization of the IL-2 receptor, induction of activation-induced cell death, and the generation of regulatory T cells, IL-2 also promotes the suppression of ...

Decreased Synthesis of Interleukin-2 (IL-2) in Insulin-dependent Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes, 1984Synthesis of interleukin-2 (IL-2) by lymphocytes from 26 insulin-dependent diabetic subjects (IDDM) was compared with that by lymphocytes from 24 nondiabetic control subjects. The control group produced 1.001 ± 0.071 U/ml (mean ± SEM). The IDDM group, containing patients diagnosed between 5 days and 10 yr before testing, produced only 0.59 ± 0.050 U/ml

Role of Zinc in Interleukin 2 (IL‐2)‐Mediated T‐Cell Activation
Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 1990In a serum‐free culture containing no zinc, zinc enhanced the proliferation of T cells in response to interleukin 2 (lL‐2), and also the in vitro production of lL‐2 by T cells. Although the lymphocyte proliferation was partially inhibited by anti‐IL‐2 antibodies, it was completely inhibited by anti‐IL‐2 receptor (CD25) antibodies.

Phosphorylation of human interleukin-2 (IL-2) [PDF]
Human interleukin-2 (IL-2) is a lymphokine which is capable of activating lymphocytes and supporting the long-term in vitro growth of activated T cell clones. Recombinant human IL-2, expressed in either E. coli or cos cells, was shown to be phosphorylated by protein kinase C. Phosphorylated IL-2 synthesized in E.

Transcription and translation dependent induction of interleukin 2 (IL-2) and IL-2 receptors
Immunology Letters, 1984Our previous findings on the expression of Interleukin 2 (IL-2) receptors have shown that under the influence of certain drugs, it was possible to dissociate IL-2 production from the appearance of IL-2 receptors on human peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL).
