Interleukin 2 (IL-2) activity during tumor growth: IL-2 production kinetics, absorption of and responses to exogenous IL-2

Cellular Immunology, 1984
A temporal study assessed the relationship between fibrosarcoma growth and immunologic encumbrance due to the inability of BALB/c mouse splenocytes to elaborate the lymphokine Interleukin 2 (IL-2). Nylon-wool fractionation and antiserum treatments suggested the existence of a mildly nylon-wool-adherent, anti-Lyt 2-sensitive tumor-induced suppressor T ...

Functional comparison of recombinant interleukin 2 (IL-2) with IL-2-containing preparations derived from cultured cells

Cellular Immunology, 1985
Due to its purity and potential availability in large amounts, human recombinant interleukin 2 (IL-2) expressed in Escherichia coli is an important source of IL-2 for experimentation and possible therapy. To date, very few comparisons between the activity of recombinant IL-2 and conventional cell-derived preparations of IL-2 have been made.

The development of anti-interleukin-2 (IL-2) antibodies in cancer patients treated with recombinant IL-2

European Journal of Cancer, 1994
Serum samples from 217 cancer patients participating in phase I/II clinical trials were analysed for the development of anti-interleukin-2 (IL-2) antibodies. Patients received recombinant human IL-2 (rIL-2) by continuous intravenous infusion (c.i.v.; n = 86) or by subcutaneous (s.c.) injections (n = 131).

[Interleukin-2 (IL-2) in active pulmonary tuberculosis].

Kekkaku : [Tuberculosis], 1992
To clarify the precise of cellular immunity mechanism in pulmonary tuberculosis, we investigated the amount of IL-2 in patients with untreated active pulmonary tuberculosis. When serum adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity was examined using enzyme assay, an abnormally high level was observed in all patients (29.0 + 11.6 IU/ml, mean + SD; 4.5-17.8, normal

Antibodies to Interleukin-2 (IL-2) in Patients: Cross Reactivity with Different IL-2 Species

1990
Nautral interleukin-2 (nIL-2) is a polypeptide which is synthesized and secreted in a nonglycosylated as well as in two glycosylated species. The lymphokine regulates growth and differentiation of lymphocytes. It is produced by T lymphocytes upon antigenic or mitogenic stimulation.

Interleukin-2 (IL-2, Proleukin) and immune function.

Project Inform perspective, 2003
IL-2 is an immune-based therapy that results in dramatic increases in CD4+ cell counts when used in conjunction with anti-HIV therapy. Although IL-2 has been discussed in previous issues of PI Perspective, new information warrants a further look at the product.
