Constraints on metric-Palatini gravity from QPO data
In this work, we study metric-Palatini gravity extended by the antisymmetric part of the affine curvature. This gravity theory leads to general relativity plus a geometric Proca field.

Anion‐exchange doping of conjugated polymers is an effective way to achieve high conductivities. Here, we report over 2000 S cm−1 electrical conductivity for doped P(g3BTTT). In addition, we show that P(g3BTTT) sustains exceptionally high doping levels without any drop in the charge mobility.

Dynamics of Intermediate Mass Black Holes in Star Clusters
We have followed the evolution of multi-mass star clusters containing massive central black holes by N-body simulations on the GRAPE6 computers of Tokyo University. We find a strong cluster expansion and significant structural changes of the clusters.

We study the black hole mass–host galaxy stellar mass relation, M _BH – M _* , of a sample of z < 4 optically variable active galactic nuclei (AGNs) in the COSMOS field. The parent sample of 491 COSMOS AGNs were identified by optical variability from the

Higher-dimensional black holes: Braneworld stars and Hawking radiation. [PDF]
In this thesis two aspects of braneworld models are studied. A new attempt at finding the metric of a braneworld black hole within the second Randall-Sundrum model is explored. Branes containing distributions of perfect fluid are embedded in a variety of

Trions as Fundamental Species in Chemically Doped Polymer Semiconductors
This work shows that exciton–charge carrier coupling in doped polymer semiconductors gives rise to multi‐particle states, including trions—quasiparticles consisting of two holes and one electron under p‐doping—and bound exciton‐hole pairs, as identified through spectroscopic and theoretical analysis.

On black holes in string theory [PDF]
PhDThis thesis investigates black holes in string theory through string amplitudes and through gauge-gravity duality. The research presented in this thesis supports the claim that string theory is capable of a consistent quantum-mechanical description

Intermediate-mass Black Hole Formation from Hierarchical Mergers in Galactic Nuclei
Dense stellar environments such as nuclear star clusters (NSCs) can dynamically assemble gravitational wave (GW) sources. We consider a population of single stellar mass black holes (BHs) in the inner 0.1 pc of an NSC surrounding a 4 × 10 ^6 M _ ...

Black holes in the gravity/gauge theory correspondence [PDF]
The AdS/CFT correspondence provides a microscopic description of black hole thermodynamics. In this thesis, I study the relation between the classical physics of black holes and this microscopic description.
