Intermediate hosts as source communities
Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1993We describe helminth communities in two sympatric species of intertidal crabs (Pachygrapsus transversus and Panopeus lacustris) that serve as intermediate hosts for helminth parasites. We suggest that a single definitive host feeding briefly on Pachygrapsus transversus may be colonized simultaneously by up to six species of microphallid trematodes and

Intermediate host specificity in Schistosoma mansoni
Experimental Parasitology, 1976Abstract Miracidia of Schistosoma mansoni penetrate into many kinds of snails, but development of normal sporocysts takes place only in certain species of Biomphalaria . Different populations of this snail vary greatly in laboratory infection rates with S. mansoni originating from diverse geographic localities.

The Role of Birds as Definitive Hosts and Intermediate Hosts of Heteroxenous Coccidians
The Journal of Protozoology, 1984ABSTRACT. Sarcocystis‐like oocysts‐sporocysts were found in four species of owls (Asio otus, Bubo bubo, Strix aluco, and Tyto alba) and in five species of predatory birds (Accipiter gentilis, Accipiter nisus, Buteo buteo. Circus aeruginosus, Falco tinnunculus).

Polychaetes as intermediate hosts of Cestodes
Actual problems of zoology and parasitology: achievements and prospects, 2018The published data on Cestodes which are using polychaetes as an intermediate hosts were analyzed. Collected material of polychaetes from Black Sea cost of Ukraine were examined. Six Cestode species are recorded. The larvae of four cestodes, Ophryocotyle proteus, Wardium fryei, Wardium cirrosa and Wardium clandestina are identified to the species. They

Sarcocystis Species Humans as Intermediate Hosts
2015Morphology/Life Cycle After the first description in the year 1863 by Lindemann in Russia, these typical Sarcocystis tissue cysts were found in the muscle fibers of humans and monkeys. These cysts (Fig. 1) had diameters of 120 70 mm and were limited by a smooth ▶ primary cyst wall inside their host cells.

Echinostomes in the second intermediate host
2008Echinostomes have a wide range of both invertebrate and vertebrate second intermediate hosts. The most studied hosts are molluskan, particularly the gastropods and bivalves; next most studied hosts are the amphibians, particularly tadpoles and frogs. The encysted metacercaria or cyst is the dominant stage in the second intermediate host of echinostomes.

Intermediate Hosts of Fascioloides magna
2016The complexity of the life cycle of Fascioloides magna and its ability to invade new region is ensured by the presence of suitable intermediate hosts, in particular aquatic pulmonate mollusks, in which larval development of the parasite takes place.
