Engineering Strategies for Stable and Long‐Life Alkaline Zinc‐Based Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Alkaline zinc‐based flow batteries face persistent challenges from unstable zinc deposition, including dendrite growth, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution, which severely limit cycling stability. Current research addresses these issues through coordinated electrode structuring, electrolyte regulation, and membrane design to control zinc ...

Single‐ and Dual‐Atom Configurations in Atomically Dispersed Catalysts for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐atom and dual‐atom‐based atomically dispersed catalysts (ADCs) effectively address the shuttle effect and sluggish redox kinetics in Li–S batteries. With nearly 100% atomic utilization and tunable coordination environments, ADCs enhance LiPSs adsorption, lower conversion barriers, and accelerate sulfur redox reactions.

Auxeticity‐by‐Assembly: Interlocking Modular Auxetic Metamaterials with Selectively Activatable AgNW–Graphene Oxide‐EGaIn Composite Interconnects for Scalable Freeform Photovoltaic Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Auxeticity‑by‑Assembly converts freeform photovoltaics from cut‑defined layouts to assembly‑defined systems. Standardized interlocking units generate negative‑Poisson‑ratio, reconfigurable architectures, while hinge regions are wired by selectively activatable AgNW–GO@EGaIn composite interconnects and a folding‑enabled interconnector layer. A decimeter‑

Oncomelania hupensis quadrasi: Snail intermediate host of Schistosoma japonicum in the Philippines.

Acta Tropica, 2020
Oncomelania hupensis quadrasi is the snail intermediate host of Schistosoma japonicum in the Philippines. It was discovered by Dr. Marcos Tubangui in 1932 more than two decades after the discovery of the disease in the country in 1906.

Intermediate Host and Host-Parasite Interactions

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2020
Background: The genus Schistosoma infects snails such as Bulinus spp., Oncomelania spp., and Biomphalaria spp. Host-parasite interaction of schistosomiasis includes induction of T helper type 1 (Th2) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). Objectives: This study, the author describes about intermediate host and host-parasite interaction in ...

The development of Neoechinorhynchus buttnerae (Eoacanthocephala: Neoechinorhynchidae) in its intermediate host Cypridopsis vidua in Brazil

Acta Parasitologica, 2018
The family Neoechinorhynchidae includes seven species of Neoechinorhynchus from freshwater fishes of Brazil. Although several Neoechinorhynchus species are cited infecting different fish species in Brazil, there is a lack of information concerning to ...

Intermediate hosts as source communities

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1993
We describe helminth communities in two sympatric species of intertidal crabs (Pachygrapsus transversus and Panopeus lacustris) that serve as intermediate hosts for helminth parasites. We suggest that a single definitive host feeding briefly on Pachygrapsus transversus may be colonized simultaneously by up to six species of microphallid trematodes and

Effect of Intermediate Hosts on Emerging Zoonoses

Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases, 2017
Most emerging zoonotic pathogens originate from animals. They can directly infect humans through natural reservoirs or indirectly through intermediate hosts. As a bridge, an intermediate host plays different roles in the transmission of zoonotic pathogens.
