Suzaku observation of the classical nova V2491 Cyg in quiescence [PDF]
We present Suzaku XIS observation of V2491 Cyg (Nova Cyg 2008 No. 2) obtained in quiescence, more than two years after the outburst. The nova was detected as a very luminous source in a wide spectral range from soft to hard X-rays.

High-Speed Photo-Polarimetry of Magnetic Cataclysmic Variables
I review recent highlights of the SAAO High-speed Photo-POlarimeter (HIPPO) on the study of magnetic Cataclysmic Variables. Its high-speed capabilities are demonstrated with example observations made of the intermediate polar NY Lup and the polar ...

Momentarily trapped exciton polaron in two-dimensional lead halide perovskites
Two-dimensional perovskite shows potential for optoelectronic applications due to its large exciton binding energy, yet the exciton-phonon interaction with the polar soft lattice is not well-understood.

Nova Scorpii 1941 (V697 Sco): A Probable Intermediate Polar [PDF]
V697 Sco, the remnant of Nova Scorpii 1941 and currently at V ~ 20.0, is found from photometric observations to have the characteristics of an intermediate polar (IP) with an orbital period (Porb) of 4.49 h and a rotation period (Prot) of 3.31 h.

Intermediate filaments: A role in epithelial polarity [PDF]
Intermediate filaments have long been considered mechanical components of the cell that provide resistance to deformation stress. Practical experimental problems, including insolubility, lack of good pharmacological antagonists, and the paucity of powerful genetic models have handicapped the research of other functions.

A Polygonal Terrain on Southern Martian Polar Cap: Implications for Its Formation Mechanism
Polygonal terrains on a Martian southern polar cap have been observed in high-resolution images by the Mars Orbiter Camera. However, their formation mechanism is enigmatic due to the lack of constraints from their geometric and physical properties.

Spin-resolved spectroscopy of the intermediate polar DQ Her [PDF]
We present high-speed spectroscopic observations of the intermediate polar (IP) DQ Herculis. Doppler tomography of two He I lines reveals a spiral density structure in the accretion disc around the white dwarf (WD) primary.
