Deformation characteristics of fine-grained soil under cyclic loading with intermittence

Acta Geotechnica, 2020
Since there is an interval time between two trains traveling in the same direction on an automatically blocked line, the dynamic loading on the railway subgrade is composed of periodic vibration when the train passes and an intermittent stage after a train has passed.

Ultracapacitor-battery hybrid energy storage for pulsed, cyclic and intermittent loads

2016 IEEE 6th International Conference on Power Systems (ICPS), 2016
The pulsed loads, when supplied by the battery energy storage often degrades its life cycle and the performance over a period. The ultracapacitors can perform the duty of providing the burst of the load current. The ultracapacitor energy storage devices are designed to have high power density, but they fall regarding the energy density.

Fatigue Performance Prediction of Asphalt Composites Subjected to Cyclic Loading with Intermittent Rest Periods

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2016
This study investigated the use of a unified method to predict the fatigue cracking and self-healing characteristics of asphalt composites subjected to cyclic loading and intermittent rest periods. Displacement-controlled uniaxial tests were performed on cylindrical specimens of two asphalt composites with intermittent rest periods.

Radial drainage and consolidation of soft soil subjected to intermittent cyclic loading

Géotechnique
The rail network invariably encounters soft subgrades consisting of shallow estuarine clayey deposits. Cyclic loading generated by the passage of trains causes deformation and corresponding development of excess pore water pressure (EPWP), which dissipates during the rest periods between two consecutive trains. This paper presents an experimental study

Intermittent Cyclic Loading of Canine Anterior Cruciate Ligament Explants: A Tissue Culture Study

Advances in Bioengineering, 1994
Abstract Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are common in sports activities. The ideal loading conditions for a healing ligament are not known, but there is much evidence showing that load is important for maintaining normal ligaments.
