Worm‐Inspired Soft Robots With Modular Outfit‐Changing for Intelligent Multienvironment Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study proposes a worm‐inspired soft robot capable of locomotion across multiple environments through a modular “outfit‐changing” strategy. The robot integrates pneumatically actuated peristaltic segments with interchangeable external modules, enabling efficient motion on ground surfaces, within pipelines, through granular media, and underwater ...

Cumulative permanent strain and critical dynamic stress of silty filler for subgrade subjected to intermittent cyclic loading of trains

Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, 2021
The long-term loading of the trains on the subgrade in service is the cyclic loading when the train passes and the intermittent stage when there is no train passing. However, in most studies, continuous loading was used to investigate the dynamic characteristics of a subgrade soil, which ignores the effect of loading intermittence.

Analysis of one-dimensional rheological consolidation of saturated clay under intermittent cyclic loading with fractional derivative Merchant model

2021 7th International Conference on Hydraulic and Civil Engineering & Smart Water Conservancy and Intelligent Disaster Reduction Forum (ICHCE & SWIDR), 2021
Soft soil foundation is often subjected to periodic vibration and intermittent action during traffic loading. To investigate the consolidation characteristics of saturated clay under traffic loading, one-dimensional rheological consolidation equation is ...

Cyclic Behavior of Tianjin Soft Clay under Intermittent Combined-Frequency Cyclic Loading

International Journal of Geomechanics, 2020
Abstract Subgrade soft clays are subjected to intermittent changeable-frequency cyclic loading and exhibit complex dynamic reactions compared with those under single-frequency cyclic loading.

Radial drainage and consolidation of soft soil subjected to intermittent cyclic loading

Géotechnique
The rail network invariably encounters soft subgrades consisting of shallow estuarine clayey deposits. Cyclic loading generated by the passage of trains causes deformation and corresponding development of excess pore water pressure (EPWP), which dissipates during the rest periods between two consecutive trains. This paper presents an experimental study
