Modeling and Optimization of Plunger Lift Assisted Intermittent Gas Lift Installations

ABSTRACT A novel mechanistic model for the design of plunger assisted intermittent gas lift installations is presented. The model considers the complete production cycle: accumulation of reservoir fluids in the wellbore, annulus pressure build-up, plunger/liquid slug rise, liquid production into flowline.

The intermittent gas-lift (IGL) methods still remain a practical recourse for the extended production of petroleum wells in the on-shore fields of Brazil. The IGLs are a natural candidate to substitute the continuous gas-lift (CGL) method at a late stage of reservoir depletion; as so the IGLs require modest adaptation to the CGL installation.

Hydrodynamic Model For Intermittent Gas Lifting of Viscous Oil
